• There's a chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday.

  • Seems legit

  • It’s cloudy
    £1550

  • Last drop on this.

    £1500

I’m amazed at the complete lack of interest.

Starting to feel like I made a mistake changing this out as I never imagined an issue with this selling given it’s palmarès!

You rarely see an U.P. For sale on the used market, I’ve never seen a Wi.De.

I also feel like £1500 is a good price for any top end used carbon frameset post bike-boom / Covid / brexit bollocks, where most in that bracket are at least £3k and often £5k+!

Any light anyone has to shine where I may be missing something here, or happy to hear if the sentiment is that price is still punchy - shout away!

  • It's a lovely frame at a good price but many on this forum are sadly not in your (disposible) income bracket. GLWS

  • i think everyone's put back of my head dibs on the Cervelo.

  • Haha - I’ll sell the Aspero frameset for £2250. Brand new, unused.

This is what baffles me. A standard, not even the Aspero 5 version, of the Cervelo has a £2500 ticket. The Aspero 5 is something like £4500!!!
The Open Wi.De is lighter and significantly more comprehensively designed and executed than both!

  • I'm tempted but I really shouldn't... Never looked at the geo of the wi.de... didn't realise they had such short/high reach/stack (in a good way). Got any pics built up?

  • It’s more a 52 than 54 if you’re comparing to race geo on a road bike!

  • I would guess the market for a frame like this is more likely the kind of people who don't tend to consider buying second hand. It's an alien viewpoint to a compulsive bargain hunter/cheapskate like myself...
Am always surprised when I get talking to cyclists who'll mostly only buy new/consider this year or maybe last year's model. But there are a lot of those people out there.
Put it on ebay as soon as there's an 80% off deal, as a buy it now/best offer, starting at 2k,
collection only to reduce chances of getting scammed?

  • Yeah I had it on eBay for a bit, and quickly had 20+ watchers and a load of jokers offering £400.
I removed it and put it back here as I’ve never ever had a problem selling anything here for 10 years or so, and people here seem to get it.
I am also a bargain hunter / cheapskate, which is why the thought of putting this up for sale on the second hand market actually excited me, from the perspective of how I’d feel had I had the opportunity to buy this frame and experience it for even £2k, rather than the £3k+ I paid for it.
This was the first premium frameset I’d ever paid full price for, and this difficulty in selling it for anything (personally) reasonable is the reason why I resisted doing it for so long.
I like to chop and change and try different things and buying full price puts a massive dent in your wallet if that’s your bag.

    A few inches Dick.

If it were an XL I'd have bitten your hand off by now.

  • “A few inches Dick”…….

    😐

  • I know mate, it’s so ironic.
A M/54 is normally the most in demand size.
The one case where it doesn’t seem to be.

  • I’m starting to get pretty tempted but it’s probably a size too small

  • I’m definitely not uninterested, but I’ve just not been riding my Topstone as is.
Another case of one of your sales threads reminding me I need to ride more so I can justify an upgrade (see SL6 previously which I’m glad I gave in to).

Surprised it’s not been snapped up tbh. Glws

  • Ha - if it’s any incentive, my girlfriend rode my Open more than she rode her Topstone, loved both bikes, but always felt more secure and steady on the Open, especially with big rubber.
I know this is one of the trade offs I’m going to miss.

  • I'd also love it but I'm not filthy rich, Rich

  • I used to have one of these and sold it in haste. I’ve missed it every single day. I’d snap your hand off if I had any idea how to build a bike. I’ve got some spare 303s that would look lovely on it as well

  • My main cycling buddy has an Open Up that he is currently using to ride from London to Zurich. He's about 800km into the route right about...... now.

He loves it and raves about it and it has certainly improved his off road riding when we go gravel riding together .

But I have a gravel bike already (Diverge) and even if I was in the market for another I need a 58 so yours is too small for me.

Pic: yeah, yeah, it's the wrong way around and fence needs treating. It's his bike and garden not mine...

  • If my Topstone didn’t have a @hoops paint job I’d find it much easier to convince myself

  • Fair - my mate still has the tarmac Tarmac SL6 and I saw it for the first time in a while the other day - it slaps.

  • What happened to this? Did you sell it?
