• Grand Seiko Quartz has started doing double second ticks, I guess this means I need to get the battery replaced? Do I have to send it to Seiko or...like...timpsons.

  • I wouldn't take it to Timpson's, but it definitely doesn't 'need' to go to Seiko. Just any half decent watchmaker.

  • Where are you based? In SE London I can recommend The Watch Polisher in E. Dulwich. They will swap batteries and do a case pressure test for very reasonable fee.

  • That is the sign that the battery is low, yes.

    I personally would give it to Seiko / GS. I don’t think they’ll charge you silly money (relative to what it’s worth) and you want someone that knows what it is and isn’t careless with it.

    Assuming it’s 100m water resistant they will also check the caseback seal which will maintain any warranty.
