Rain stopped play on my pizza oven / kamado cooking thing today. Good progress for a day though. Should have it finished off this week.

I like this.
My plan is, at some point, to do something similar with scaffold poles and corian offcuts.

I trialed the new mods to my Aldi mini kamado today. My original heat deflector plate was too big so I ordered a smaller diameter stainless disc and I also made a second tier to increase capacity. It all worked pretty well and the jerk chicken was spot-on!

y u no shorten the side piece and extend the front piece to hide the join from the front?
tear it down and start again.
(v. nice btw)

So that it matched the other side (ish).
It's all going to be painted so you won't notice anyway.

I made a second grill for my mini kamado and gave it a spin yesterday. It worked out well and has doubled my cooking capacity.
I also had to change my homemade heat deflector, I think the diameter of the first was too large and it really struggled to get up to temperature. The new one is 2cm smaller and seemed to work much better.

Do you mean a third grill?
-
• #2109
No I mean a second one in addition to the original. But.... You have me thinking now!!
I just had a piece of that jerk chicken for lunch and it is pretty good!!

that extra grill is inspired, going to have to steal that idea. is it just standing on the heat deflector?
-
• #2111
It is standing on the lower grill, I used some brazing rods to make the legs. It was a temporary bodge but worked surprisingly well (so knowing me it will probably be the permanent solution!!). I'll take a photo later just incase you want to try it out.

Ah I just meant because you posted that yesterday as well š

Jesus, so I did....and it is on the same page. Trots off for a memory and observation test š

I was going to delete one of the posts but I'll leave it on. It is a good reminder of why you shouldn't drink excess amounts of wine on a Sunday evening!!!

Here is how it sits on the lower grill, a bit of a hash up but proved a point and I may or may not create a MKII.

Ah thatās a pretty cute way of doing it. If youāre anything like me, if that holds for more than a couple of weeks then it will become a permanent solution.

Slow progress after work this week because of the rain. Hoping I can finish tomorrow.

Traditional sausage, chicken, burgers, ribs on the BBQ yesterday, but highlight for me was this cauli I smoked on the mini kamado. The aubergines were pretty ok too.

Oh brilliant veg, what was your process here?
-
• #2121
Aubergines were just oiled and salted, cauli got oil, salt, paprika and cumin. Then 2ish hours of low smoking on the mini (exact timing fairly hazy due to beer consumed).
Big thanks to whoever suggested the heat deflector for the mini upthread btw. Up until yesterday itās been one of those purchases where I was like āyeah, I could have not bought this and everything would be fineā, but I trialled the deflector yesterday and it makes a massive difference to how useful the little guy is.

Awesome.
What's the rational for the baby one?
-
• #2125
It takes forever to get the big one up to temp and it uses more fuel.
Small one is good for ordinary cooks.
Is it considered good?
