Are pinion gear boxes good on bikes? Will they replace external gears on commuting and touring setups? How do they fare relative to rohloff or Alfine?
I can't see them breaking out in a big way. The classical planetary gear hub is well known and understood by users and mechanics, and requires little or no adaptation of the frame. Also, they're cheap which is a big deal in the commuting space. The Pinion 2-shaft gearbox has no material advantage in efficiency, it's heavy, forces a huge Q-factor and requires a special frame. The only demonstrable technical advantage of Pinion is that it reduces unsprung weight on frames with rear suspension.

My dad’s car has all this, and I turn it off!
But then again, my ideal car is something uncomfortable, manual and with a clutch that’s like an on/off switch!

Does anyone have a Cube Attain GTC?
Looking to buy one and want to know if 32c tyres will fit with ok clearance for light gravel. Cube website says 28c max but seeing a lot for sale second hand with 32c.

By EU regulation, a bike has to have 4mm clearance around the tyres. That means anything sold with 28s as original equipment or represented as suitable for such will take 32s or even 35s, but with dangerously small clearance for any gravel picked up in the treads. If it would safely clear 32s, Cube would say so, they're not going to undersell their product.

Anyone have any intel if basic old Colgate Cavity Protection toothpaste has been discontinued? It’s still showing on the Colgate website but all the supermarkets (locally) seem to have switched to Maximum Cavity Protection, which is about the same price but different toothpaste. Different taste, different texture and I don’t like it. Not been able to find it for a few months now.

Toothpaste is classed as a cosmetic and the manufacturers can play with them as they wish without having to bother with a product licence. They basically all do the same thing.
When there is a new formulation the stock run out is usually sold off dirt cheap to places like pound land.

Toothpaste has got well expensive. I refuse to pay more than £1/100ml but it's getting hard!

It’s still showing on the Colgate website
Your links show it on the US website. Maybe find a US friend and get them to send you a case of it? Or buy it off of Amazon, they will ship to the UK for a price

Does anyone have experience with a good immigration lawyer?
-
• #117891
These guys: https://www.southwarklawcentre.org.uk/immigration/
But they have a narrow window that cases have to fit into (often referred from community agencies). But they may be able to point in a different direction if they can't help directly. -

Which bike is this used in the Elite photographs? It's always puzzled me.

@ltc I have had 2 Paddywagons, both fitted 28c Gatorskins with full, SKS-style guards. Quite tight all round, especially under the rear brake but if the guards are snugged up into the brake well, I have had no issues. Commute all year round in bad weather. More height than width restrictions, so taller tyres could be an issue. Also true wheels, straight guards and placement in the rear dropout helps. Once I spent the time to get it correct, it was fine.

Thanks for that! That's not going to cut it clearance wise unfortunately. Shame, they're good looking frames.

It's not as puzzling as the €14,000 wood and glass cow they used to have.

I’ve recently been riding in Uniqlo t shirts instead of cycling jerseys, I really like the cut of them and that airism stuff is decent. I’m just wondering if they any worse for the environment than the offerings from the big cycling clothing brands?

My e mtb can display total power, power from rider and power from bike which makes adding a power meter superfluous.
