  • It might have led to a conversation about how the industrial revolution led not only to colonialism but also the present day crop failures and famines. Africans suffering twice over. But the mood had soured with me apparently enforcing a law. That's a no-no. So we didn't get around to discussing how the rich white northern hemisphere people don't seem to care about the southern hemisphere people who are dying. I suspect we would do 100 times more if those people were white. Nearly all black Londoners have family in Africa or the West Indies (sometimes including actual brothers) so I don't think there's anything wrong with referring to 'your brothers in Africa'. But I don't suppose these guys wanted to hear that idling Range Rovers are making the famines worse. They really ought to be taking up cycling and joining XR/JSO, but I don't think I've ever seen a black climate protester in the UK.
