I went with Milwaukee for the small stuff and spent lot more than necessary but they seem to be very robust. If I deem the chargable Milwaukee version too expensive (this is more the case with the 'construction' stuff they sell I guess), I tend to get the cheap mains powered stuff from amazon or any tool dealer (I found out there are lots of online tool dealers with various campaigns going on all the time, they also sell on eB**).
RYOBI looks nice and seems to have a good spread on the budget end but I've never even held one. Aldi/Lidl has some offerings but if you need a specific tool (and you've built up the brand-specific battery stock over time) and the tool is out of stock then chances are you're not going to find it anywhere. Also if you use the screwfix app there are plenty of discounts after the first order (10% off, £35 off £100, £15 off £50, £5 off £30, and such) it also enables no-interaction collections you just check-in on the app and do a 'sup to the collection person.
I need to get a new drill, and it’s probably also the time to “buy in” to a battery standard as I’ll likely grab other tools soon too.
Anybody come across a good deal lately, and I feel like it’s been a while since the brand wars reignited. What’s the word?
