  • Polestar innit?

  • Nah you’re right. Getting my logos mixed up.

  • Are you selling the yellow calipers.

  • I thought it might have been a BMW.

  • ah nice! didnt know this was their logo, fucking expensive!

  • It even says "Polestar" on the side

  • Zoom, enhance rotate...

  • Check the manual for the alarm, often the LED will flash a code when disarmed to notify what has set it off.

Most false alarms are caused by water ingress or ultrasonic sensors detecting movement in the car, anything hanging from the mirrors that could sway around?
Worth pulling the covers off the ultrasonic sensors and checking for spiders, that was a very common cause on BMW 5 & 7 series :)

  • Didn't BMW develop an antispider spray after that?

  • I think originally the spiders got rid of the fly.

They upgraded to a bird to get the spider, then a cat to get the bird ;)

Why oh why they installed a fly I will never know ;)

PS never heard of any anti spider spray :)

  • Now this is nice, but someone’s parked in front of it

  • Claims management company question.

Has anyone delt with a claims management company?

I witnessed an accident where a builder working on a house in the street reversed off the drive into a learner driver (private car if that is relevant).

From what I witnessed completely the builders fault.

A few weeks later I get a rather pushy call from a claims management company acting on behalf of the learner driver telling me to fill a witness statement they would send me.

I am slightly puzzled as to the involvement of a claims company.

When I queried this with the management company and it became clear it's none of your business wasn't going to cut it as an answer they went on to explain it was so the Lerner avoided losing their no claims bonus and paying the excess on their policy.

I've been involved in two no fault claims and neither involved me paying the excess or losing any no claims bonus.

Probably legit, but wondered if anyone had any thoughts or experience on anything similar?

    Thanks

  • Car appreciators - what's the best way of getting a insurance renewal down? just call them up with a cheaper quote from elsewhere?

  • Had a go in an Artura yesterday, was a surprisingly nice experience. Far more comfortable than the P1 which is ridiculous and a rough ride over speed bumps, the Artura was comfortable. Sure the position is low, and the car is very small... but hey, it has a good B&W stereo, the seats are comfy that I can imagine the runs from London to Glasgow to be enjoyable, and at low speed it was fully driving on battery and not doing the silly V6 from the start line thing... and yet, it sounded lovely and if you did happen to want to go fast it was pretty damn fast. The only problem I could find with it is that it doesn't come in British Racing Green or that pink I like (the one my Seven is in).

Also... the rear bridge things made out of carbon fibre, in the demo car one was broken. It barely had a thousand miles on the thing and some fat lump has clearly leaned their weight on it and snapped it.

  • Few Luffguss stickers and hey presto, the company car. Does it fall into the low P11d category being a hybrid?

  • Does it fall into the low P11d category being a hybrid?

Hmm, possibly, will need to check that out.

Not sure I'm serious about buying one TBH. The Volvo V60 is still the thing I love. Was good fun though... but if I'm looking for a car the Taycan would fit more camping gear.

  • Get prices off price comparison sites, ring up saying you could get it cheaper etc, but all insurance prices have gone up quite a bit. Mine went up a chunk and couldn’t get it down elsewhere either.

  • Have you tried all the usual tricks of adding parents/grandparents/friends/partner etc to see what combination has the lowest price?

  • Oh and getting a renewal premium the month before end drops your premium....cos organised innit.

No idea why but insurance logic.

  • How has your hot V60 worked out?

  • How has your hot V60 worked out?

I love it. It remains my perfect car.

Drove to Glasgow a week and a half ago, and did it in a single tank of fuel in about 6-7 hours.

Drove back to London, did it in two tanks, but also in under 5 hours.

Can load it up with stuff for the tip.

Can fit 2 bikes in the back and also camping gear.

Full EV around London (25m range) makes it nice and smooth here.

    Stereo is great.

    Seats are comfy.

Firm ride + fast (that crazy sports chassis and the suspension I guess).

  • I had a garage do an oil change and they used 5w30 oil. I’ve got 2 litres of 10w30. Can I use that to top up when needed?

    It’s 1992 Honda Accord.

  • Yeah be fine, but 5w30 is a bit thin imo for a car that age. Honda's of a similar vintage and newer were 10w40

Think 5w30 might be too thin and be used by the car engine.
