now i have all of our walls stripped back as much as possible i'm planning on the following...
sand and sugar soap all walls
hit the walls that have chipped paint patches that would be too hard to remove from the whole wall with zinsser peel stop over all patches where the paint layer is broken to lock it down as much as possible
prime all the walls with zinsser 123+ because it's an old house which has had spots of mould under the existing wallpaper
lining paper (1400gsm) over all the walls because the walls are not flat and there's 100% gonna be cracks appearing at some point.
prime *
paint with desired paint for final finish.
any suggestions for a decent bulk primer for going over the lining paper, we have 6 rooms to do so are gonna need a decent amount so trying to find best balance between cost and finish.

chipped paint patches
My experience is that these will show through the lining paper so you might want to test before you commit.

Pressure washers. I want one to clean the patio and maybe wash the car. Will I notice much performance increase/decrease between these two screwfix ones at 100/140bar?

I borrow a baby karcher which I guess is 110bar.
Using the spinney brush attachment thing it works slowly. I think a more powerful one would be better for the patio.

I have the cheapest one, works fine for me - just did our paths no problems

Deepening the trench for my summerhouse power run and this popped out of the side wall.
What am I looking at there?

Hit it with the mattock, see if it makes a "hiss", a "buzz" or a "sploosh" noise.

I had the most random collection of shit when I dug trenches in our garden.
Buried pipes, bars, piles of sheet glass, a giant sea shell, a random concrete box, and a bunch of 60s porno story books about spanking.

Got 2 old sheds that need the roofs doing - not big, I was going to replace with corrugated pvc type stuff - can I just bang this right on top of the old wood & felt? I think the chipboard underneath is a bit damp but dont; want to start ripping it all to bits if I don't have to

I’d rip the felt off to let the boards dry out and bang up the sheets. It’ll be fine.

There's a guide somewhere - possibly linked to in this thread about using flat roof torch-on roof flelt.
I picked up a slightly damaged excess rolls of ebay cheap. It's much thicker than "shed" roof felt. You don't have to torch it on or anything.

Thanks! High praise from someone like yourself!
The black valchromat will go up to meet the window cill, be flush with it, and edge all 3 wall sides of desk. Or at least thats the plan...

I'm currently unblocking an upstairs bedroom fireplace and the hearth is very crumbly. I will be repairing this, hopefully today, but how far down dare I go removing the loose stuff? Just want to share the blame should the house fall down.

If it's upstairs, and judging by the off-centre position, it'll have another chimney coming up below it, passing around it to the right and joining somewhere up above before exiting the roof, so in theory you should hit the top of the other chimney's brickwork very soon. What condition that is in...who knows

Thank you for the advice.

That'll do until I get the room reskimmed and we decorate.

has anyone got any tips for using epoxy grout? We have a problem shower area where sand based grout gets saturated and fails.
One potential stupid question, is can I use it for wall-floor interfaces rather than using silicone?
