  • Ok that took a while, found 1/5

  • Those are Hulsroy Sideloader Bottle Cages™ so we don't need to make the framebags ugly and awkward shape

  • I'm very happy with both my Venture max and Hylex. I really love the upscale -folding combo!

  • Wedge shape looks better.

Maybe make the bottom line not perfectly level. Draw a line between the tops of the bottles and make the bottom line of the bag parallel to that.

  • I am just going to do a splittable full frame bag and let @Tijmen decide as he will be making it

  • @SoYaap! 's AWOL still need some finishing touches but it's getting there

  • Love the chainstay brace to calliper mount line.

  • Ah we can’t mention @SoYaap! because of the ,!’ in the username? Now that’s the proof, as I wondered recently when mentioning him since I got a Nitto rack from him, shipped from Austria to Austria =)

  • Ah ha never realized this was the reason, I think I'm due a name change anyway as this harks back to another time for me. Looking forward to seeing your Panansonic come together!

  • An engineer friend of mine has raised concerns about the joint tho. He thinks it is a very narrow point where it attaches to the seat tube. That tab is 6mm thick flat bar but fillet brazed for more stiffness. We will see how it holds up, but my gut feeling tells me its gonna be fine.

As an alternative, could you make the seatstays end in a single tube which gets clamped between two plates, one on either side of the seattube/toptube cluster? It wouldn't look as elegant, I'd admit.

  • If it breaks I fix it. I feel confident it isn't an issue

  • Have you designed a side entry cage yet?

  • Yes and done a prototype. But it doesn't pay the bills so round two will have to wait!

  • But I could pay for a cage and then like 100 others do the same each month...

  • I mean, looks like you only need to spend a few weeks making nice benders and bang those things basically make themselves!

  • Oh boy have I studied videos of Ron King doing cages.
One of my biggest issues currently is getting 4mm tubing at a price where it isn't stupid. My testing so far have been with solid rod

  • No surprise you saw all those videos. I guess he has a thing going.
Yes, finding stuff to make stuff isn't easy. I am building the first prototype for my new adventure and even bog standard welded steel pipe or something like that isn't easy.

  • Maybe you know them, maybe shipping is stupid, and I don't think their prices are nice, but if https://www.gemmel-metalle.de/edelstahl/rohre---rund/1.html
Has something you fancy I can order for you, pick up and ship. Or carry it around Sweden and bring to Copenhagen end of August.

  • Loads of choice, but if I ride my bike twice as far to the old school guys steel is almost half as expensive.

  • It’s Ron Andrews BTW ;)

I don’t know if it’s still true, but for Ti Ron used to get fuselage off cuts from the aerospace industry that were too short for anything but to be recycled. So his pricing for materials was basically scrap pricing. This was true in at least 2009 when we were taking about Ti toe cages and a Mafac style front rack.

  • But we’re thinking of having some side entry cages made based on the Ringle ones, but out of Ti sheet.

  • Thanks man. Great information<3
