  • An engineer friend of mine has raised concerns about the joint tho. He thinks it is a very narrow point where it attaches to the seat tube. That tab is 6mm thick flat bar but fillet brazed for more stiffness. We will see how it holds up, but my gut feeling tells me its gonna be fine.

    As an alternative, could you make the seatstays end in a single tube which gets clamped between two plates, one on either side of the seattube/toptube cluster? It wouldn't look as elegant, I'd admit.

  • Depends a bit how much play there is in the joint next to the BB and how tight you fasten that up. If it pivots while riding it could create stress on the upper part. I think it would be ok, maybe not if you do 200k of loaded washboard gravel every day. :)

    As you said, if it breaks fix it and move on to V2.
