• I’m a big fan of the regular red ones - anyone tried the ‘premium’ black version and are they worth the price (maybe once as a treat)?

  • No MSG? I’m out! 😀

  • Fortunately, added MSG isn't needed, because it contains yeast extract in the beef seasoning.
    Yeast extract being 'natural' MSG.

'No MSG' means it can't have yeast extract or MSG in it.

My understanding is that 'No MSG added' can contain as much yeast extract as necessary because its not pure MSG.

  • Also interested to try those - but I can't find them near me. Like the red ones also.

  • A bit OT. I used to love these as an 'on the go' munch.

  • I did another gourmet instant ramen a while back but forgot to upload pics. Here they are. A bit like the ones I started the thread with, but with less English available. I actually thought these were chicken flavour when I bought them but they're river snail again, so maybe I picked up the wrong pack. I didn't like them and couldn't finish them. They had that funny taste and strong smell that the other ones had, which I narrowed down to the green vegetables bag. Really smelly and made the bottom of the house smell BAD.

    Highlights, however. New list:

    1. Mystery packets of stuff!
    2. No wang!
    3. Ingredients sticker that doesn't match what the packet says!

  • Noodle adjacent I recently discovered Buldak spicy chicken sauce. Really good stuff.

  • I'll keep an eye out for that!

  • Love this stuff. I like to tread the line between enhancing and ruining my meal. A slip of the wrist and it's game over.

  • They also do a 2x. When I left being a chef and had to use a microwave at work for lunch I lived off 2x spicy noodles.

  • There is?! 2x got me a sweat on. I’ll go hunting.

  • This stuff is pretty powerful:

  • The Internet is telling me that this is a 4x spicy. Any adventurous people out that that can confirm?
I'm not sure I can face it after 3x

  • I bought these from Tian Tian Market in Canning Town, purely because they're seemingly vegan and shaped like some sort of space devil? The 6 packets of gubbins seems excessive, not pictured was a plastic fork. They're marked as being "sesame paste" flavour but only that and the ingredients were printed in English, I had to take a wild stab at how to prepare them.
Pretty tasty and the addition of peanuts and pickled veg was a nice touch. The thick noodles were enjoyable as well, it felt more substantial than a Shin Cup. I'd buy it again but not sure I can deal with throwing away that much plastic for one bowl of noodles.

  • Its the sichaun peppercorn style version. I believe it is slightly milder than the standard strength.
You might have found this out by yourself already though by now.

  • That sounds amazing. Need to find me some of them!

  • Riight, so all the 4x spicy talk online could be BS. Sounds like one to try!

  • Yeah, it does sound pretty great!

  • Just wolfed down a 2x spicy with ease. I think I'm nearing my final form.

    Also, hello habanero lime

  • I had a habanero and lime a few months back. 3/10

  • Naww, excitement slightly dulled. Let's see, maybe I'll love 'em.

  • There is no lime taste, just artificial vinegar which overpowers all other flavours. Shame as it should be a winning combo for me.
