Yeah hamstrings are tight whilst hips are very flexible. I don’t ever have cramp. I was having some lower back pain though that has gone since dropping the saddle. In general I’m pretty flexible; I’m 6’2 and ~65kg so lanky and lean.
I saw the bike fitter again today who dropped my saddle a month or so ago and he was at a bit of a loss as to why there was no real improvement. In the spirit of trying to eliminate factors we went back from my unpadded SMP Composit to a padded SMP Evolution to see if that might make a difference as I rode with the evo fine for a long time before the hamstring issues, the hamstring issues came on when I started chucking a Composit into the mix on a second bike; this could obviously not be of any significance, though there was a wonder if there might be compression from the lack of padding in the Composit saddle. He pressure mapped me on the Composit when I first saw him and it looked good pressure-wise and I’ve always found I’m able to ride any saddle without issue but who knows, maybe this might lead to an improvement.
How do you describe "hamstring" niggles? Tight and prone to cramping? Possibly sciatica?
I had what I thought was hamstring issues after my back surgery. It too me a few years but I worked out that is was not muscle tightness but a continuation of nerve issues. I do neural flossing and it made a 1000000% difference. Quite a few explanations on YT for how to do it.
