    https://....com/lfgss-tel.html

also seems to solve the popup
field is a bit wider than the text box, but presumably that's just because the styling isn't being applied

  • @Velocio & @duncs
You may also be able to stop this behaviour without changing anything about the field except to add autocomplete="new-password" to its attributes.

  • doesn't seem to work for me with just that added
    https://....com/lfgss-newpassword.html

ah - looked at browser compatibility and it's not implemented on Safari iOS
    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Attributes/autocomplete#browser_compatibility

so seems changing the type to tel stops BitWarden trying to help

and remove any lfgss username/password from your password manager because you probably don't need it either since the auth0 change (years ago)

  • I've just managed to fix the issue on my iPhone!!
I just checked and still had my old LFGSS login saved in the Keychain from before auth0 was implemented. I deleted that in keychain and now no more auto-focus, so it must be something to do with it trying to auto fill those login details?
@Dammit @chrisbmx116 try this see if it works for you.

  • This feels like a System 32 kinda trick.
If I don't see y'all ever again, its been wonderful.

Holy shit, thats it, great bug hunting everyone, better than my Dev team!

  • If that doesn't work, try Up, Down, Left, Right, Up, Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right, C, A + Start

  • Woah, moon gravity, awesome

  • it's not implemented on Safari iOS

Should have known. Safari, despite the best efforts of Jen Simmons, is still the new Internet Explorer.

  • This worked for me

  • So what we've got to is:

    • It's a bug
    • It arises from the use of an input field and a password manager
    • It's the password manager that focuses on the field

So it may be that marking the input to not be completed by a password manager fixes it... let me try that.

  • Try now... autocomplete="off" added to the forms and fields... I think the fields are not supported but that the form ones are.

  • Idk why, but reading this series of posts has really made my day.

It feels like a happier version of when reddit identified the location of the Boston Bombers.

  • Did my changes work? Can someone confirm or deny?

  • Looks like it. Haven’t done extensive testing but I put the LFGSS url back into Bitwarden and am no longer getting the issue.

  • Awesome... I've no idea whether this is the form=autocomplete=off that fixed it or the input=autocomplete=off.

But if it's fixed, then great

  • I don't think that's changed it. I added it back to Bitwarden too and the problem reappeared.

Did you add https for the site in Bitwarden @Samuelson? When I added it first then I just did http and so it didn't match properly

swapping it from text to tel did seem to fix for me, but it needs at least a css tweak too as the input box is a different size then

  • Did you add https for the site in Bitwarden @Samuelson?

Ah, no i didn’t. And yes when I do add https it does go back to the old (broken) behaviour.

  • Ah, oh well.

I shall try and assess the impact of making it a different field type.

  • It’ll be like Xmas morning when Dammit wakes up in Singapore and sees his letters have been answered

  • Having watched all this unfold has been great, but I would like to say this was a really inspired first step.

  • Ssssh! My boss's boss might notice I'm moonlighting on a random internet forum helping solve their problems rather than concentrating solely on my actual day job problems.

  • It worked- I deleted old unused passwords out of keychain and no more pop up keyboard.

    Thanks all.

  • Just got a MacBook Air. I need a hub that has a couple of usb a ports, a couple of usb c ports and hdmi which can charge devices (phone, watch, iPad).

As charging is done via the MagSafe charge port the hub doesn’t need to be one that can charge the laptop via usb c.

Is there a hub that can meet my requirements? I don’t need Ethernet, audo jack, or sd card reader slots.

  • Anyone used Timpson for screen repairs? My wife has an iphone 11 pro. I don't really fancy the high street places with a million signs in the window. Looked into it and Timpson offer a repair service. Not sure if this is in store or mail-in only. But on the mail in service they ask for the pin and password. Is that the norm? Seems a bit of an ask..

  • Wouldn’t be giving anyone my PIN/password. Defo not a good idea. Not needed for a screen repair either.
