I’d really like to give this a go. Are there any ki da open track sessions to get some practice before a race?
-
• #9703
Herne Hill do weekly coaching sessions, I think on Wednesdays, but they run from September
to January I believe.Honestly, just enter a race and give it a go. I genuinely don't think there is a more accessible form of cycle sport than cyclocross, people are very welcoming and no-one takes summer cross that seriously.
The crowds that turn up at Herne Hill for this are great too, and really add to the experience.

One of my peers was heckled by some kid last night with a "Come on, grandad", which caused much amusement.

That was me and @monkdagola
Good effort! -

Ok good to know. I’m near to Herne Hill, just need a bike! Been tricky finding a L XL second hand.
Where can I find the schedule? -
• #9707
East Kent CX dates have been released as well. Should probably get my shit together for these
-
• #9708
Can you borrow one for the one race?
-
• #9709
That’d be the ideal scenario but don’t know anyone who rides a large or XL, cross racers seem to be a short bunch!?!
-

I think you can hire cross bikes from the velodrome now.
-
• #9711
That’d be great

I don't know who you contact, but bike hire is mentioned on this page:
https://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/offroad
There was also a section in the rider briefing email about riders who'd hired bikes returning them after the race.
I didn't answer your schedule question I realise. There's three more races as part of the summer series on July 14th, 28th and August 4th. Entries are via the BC website:

Ah I don’t think I was at that end of the race…

Herne Hill velodrome cyclocross skills sessions are Thursday evenings. There is also an “Enduro” session that runs in the mornings on various weekdays that also tackle the same terrain.

I did my first ever race there last night.
Really enjoyed the big bob downhill rip... Right hand turn into a decent then right into a left 🔥🔥🔥.
Did have good fun on that part. Not so much fun on the grass sections.

Oh hai! The come on grandad wasn't me though 😜

Thinking about a new frameset, what's good out there for <1k if alloy or <2k if carbon?
Also, is there anyone that sells Ridley in the UK other than Paul Milnes?
-
• #9718
Forme Calver if you can still find one seem a good alloy option ~£500
-
• #9719
That's what I have at the moment. But their distributor went bust recently and having broken one of these frames before, it makes me feel uneasy about where I am warranty wise.
EDIT: great frames, other than that

Crux

• #9722
Yes, can you point me in the direction of a sub 2k frameset tho? Think it's only Sworks and 4.5k
Their full build have 30% off at Sigma right now, but still 4k for a Sram build

Otherwise trek?
Or winspace. -

I massively regret selling my super x. Such a good bike. This one is a bargain shame it's collection only from Yorkshire as its top spec and looks in great condition. Good seller too I've bought from him before

I was asked to 'Do A Skid' by someone watching by Big Bob. I obliged, obviously.
