Interesting! I’ve always seen them mounted ahead of the BB, can they be mounted behind too?

I’d definitely feel a lot better about cutting that part

I'd cut neither. Can't you get a hub based motor?

I could but I love the instant torque from standstill that you get with a torque sensor- especially good on a cargo bike imho. Hub kits with a torque sensing BB don’t seem that readily available but open to suggestions!
