How deep did you run the cable in the ground? Did you bury warning tape above it? https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Necessities_Index/Electric_Cable_Below_Tape/index.html
UK signs would look like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Danger-Buried-Cable-Plastic-WEH51/dp/B01HPU806S
I think there's a fairly standard convention for these things, which I'd guess is why you can't find metal ones like that in the UK. -

I was using a mini mattock so i could only get down to 45cm as that was as low as i could swing it but i have a full size one coming today so i'm digging it down to 60cm when the weather stops being shit again so the trench will be open for a bit
I also have 5m of this coming to cover the cable in the trench before I fill it in.
https://www.superlecdirect.com/cable-accessories/hazard-warnings/4012-centriforce-stokbord-cable-protection-tile-cw-pegs/but I just want something that will be immediately visible above ground to indicate where it is and not fade or get easily damaged.
probably easier to have them engraved on etsy or something I guess

Think regs say 18 inch/450mm is considered a safe depth, the extra 150mm can’t hurt though.
If it’s got tape above it and some sort of signage, I’m sure it’d be fine. Have you got any works planned to actually dig near them at that depth? -

the lawn is shit (more rocks than mud) so plan is to resurface it sometime between now and next spring and I'll be putting in borders directly above in next couple of months.
i think having been hit in the face with so many hidden horrors that were just covered over and forgotten about (singular loft light running on old power shower circuit using existing wiring marked power shower on old fuseboard for e.g. ) I'm just keen to make the place as easy to maintain down the line for either us or the next owners.

I'm guessing most electricians these days have a portable label printer that produces labels that don't fade.

There are custom sign makers who make real signs as well. I got given one for father's day.
So have a search

During thunderstorm tonight our boiler has gone pop so no electric now, bit didnt trip at the main box thingy & underneath is quite wet.
Oddly the radiators are all warm as though the heating has been running but the room temp is 10deg above the thermostat trigger.
Anyway it looks like water from the rain has been coming in through this pipe (lower) on the exhaust vent which I've always wondered why it was there. I'm not sure it'd have been enough quantity to account for all the wet below though, maybe it got into the exhaust vent too, it was proper monsoon stuff.
Any ideas what else might have happened, or if most likely it is water from above just frying a circuit inside.
At least it isn't mid-winter...
Apologies for state of boiler top, ive never looked at it before...

You’ll get water in that anyway, as the condensate runs back through the boiler into the condensate pipe! Does the boiler have a cover on that, if not it should and if you’ve took it off put it back on or you’ll have POC coming into the house.
Looking at the rust that’s been leaking for a while, get some out to look at it as it doesn’t look right from the images, also just because something blows on the boiler doesn’t always trip the main breaker.

Yeah, I took front off (going no further) there's rust inside consistent with previous wet. Front going back on now. Quick research suggests it is fucked and new boiler likely be needed.

Boiler always been like it, what's POC in this context?
Thanks for advice, will call someone in on Monday.

There's a fuse on the wall switch so that might have blown, partner said she heard a pop from that area of the room at one point...

Still can't figure out the warm radiators though.

They are junk they WB boilers, we’ve changed a bunch, if that’s rusty the sump at the bottom is leaking somewhere I’d say.
From that photo I’d go for it’s fucked and changed it, will be 10+ years old anyway

And they leave the label backing on the floor???
Just a guess😂 -

That plug you remove to do an emission test, all the fumes go out the middle of the flue which that is connected too, that should have plug to stop stuff coming into the room.
Weird that the rads are hot but sometimes weird things happen

Ta, any recommendations. Both boiler make and anyone reputable & mcr based you may know of? I have huge executive dysfunction & trader-trust issues around stuff like this.

If its Manchester based I travel there to see my GF every few weeks so could potentially do it. Feel free to sling me a message.
We fit maxi/Main stuff personally and have done for 20 years.

Fuse replaced at switch we have power to boiler again. F7 error code which is
F7 Flame detected even though appliance switched off. Check electrode assembly, dry pcb. Flue clear?
Is it within the realm of diy to get the pcb out and dry it above our dehumidifier then safely refit it? I can isolate the power, obvs.

anyone know where I can get these kind of warning plaques in the uk. only site I can find is in Aus.
we've ran power to my summer house and I'd like to put plaques indicating either end of the run under the lawn and warning plaques along the top of where it runs under the decking just so we never have any issues in later years or if work is done when I'm not around.
