• Brake standards have been around too long. It's about time we got a new one.

Not quite a new standard as such since it looks like it'll still use post mount calipers. But will require manufacturers to make frames with a new mount.

  • They’ve certainly had more success with their universal derailleur mount than Shimano have had with their direct mount, and certainly had a better strategy.

I feel like they’re angling for a sustainability angle here with a mount that if you crash and hit your calliper it won’t write off your frame.

I guess we’ll see what happens but they’ve certainly got a fair old share of the top end of the MTB market with their AXS system. Where is Shimano Di2 now?

  • crash and hit your calliper

    Which happens all the time?

  • Shimano do seem to have abandoned this market segment. It’s puzzling

  • I think they’re still making XT and XTR Di2 but I can’t remember the last time I saw a bike with it on.
Pinkbike’s photo’s from the XC World Cup haven’t shown any pro bikes with it on in at least a couple of years from what I remember.
AXS seems to have taken over the ,Arles completely for electric MTB gears and I’m not sure Shimano can come back against that.
