Currently on a 2 year tour through the Americas. We’re insured with Worldwide Insure who have paid out on 2 claims so far but been a bit slow and shit to deal with.
Lots of people used to use Safety Wings (pay monthly insurance) but they sneakily removed bike touring from their cover leaving loads of people unknowingly uninsured.
Some friends have now got cover with Dr Walter (German based but seems to cover anyone). Others are with World Nomads and Big Cat.
When we were looking the following restrictions really narrowed down available options, double check whoever you go with covers your trip.
Also check that they will continue to insure you if you return home but then want to continue your trip, some cancel if you return home (eg for a family or medical reason). This happened to someone we know with Big Cat but I think they successfully argued their case and got it reinstated.
Also - our cover is pretty much for medial cover only, very little to no cover for possessions or delayed/cancelled plans.
