I was just being dumb and, topically for this thread, slightly drunk

Lovely cloudwater pale on at the wanstead tap, going down far too easily. A rare breed of a place where you can still get a pint for for less than 6 quid.
Going to miss not living 2 minutes walk away.

Mercy!

Even for London's famous London, £6.50 being the new baseline for a pint feels rough.

Ouch. I bought a couple of guiness the other night and it was £4.30 a pint which smarted enough. My work bar is subsidised and has just gone over £3/pint so I'm probably over-sensitive.

Surely that's not London though is it? Because you ain't getting prices like that outside of a spoons round here.

Most of my pints are over £7 these days and god help me when I get a bit of a hardon for DIPA and walk out of beerkat or pint of hops with an armload.

Speaking of which... I'm thirsty

I remember years ago when I'd be made up if I bought a couple of pints and got change from a tenner, it feels like we're not far from being happy getting change out of 20 quid.
At least it's all contactless now so you can't see the disappointment.

Oh, you get the disappointment, it just arrives later in the form of credit card bills. Here's an example of a statement from my pension provider I received today

I'm used to having ridiculous bar tabs. What's annoying is I'll still be sober when I pay them!

Can't lose money on a pension if you don't have one.

pint of hops
Wandered past with @NorthLondonLight on Wednesday lunchtime.
We noticed the owner/proprietor looking wealthy. -

That's where I'm going wrong. At least buying beer doesn't lose money! Genius!

Just had three exceptional lagers (Tegenseer Hells, Gaffel Kölsch and Augustiner Edelstoff) for £12 at Hop, Burns & Black in E Dulwich. Crazy cheap.

Used to live just around the corner from the Tap, was a good spot. Although I fully appreciate the fact that most of the pints in my local are now £5.

Big fan of the Wanstead Tap. Went on the Dunwich Dynamo with Dan last year too.

Hah. My local now is a Thornbridge Brewery place. Pint of Green Mountain, £5. I’ve lived here 2 years now and it still confuses me a little bit that it’s so cheap.
I only had to move almost 200 miles north to achieve this dream.

Tonight's post work softener.
Drawn in by the can, was surprised by the colour. No idea what else I was expecting from a beverage called Death by Cherries.
A bit sour, vaguely cherry drop flavoured. It's ok, won't be reaching for a second can in a hurry

Glad I kept that imperial stout handy... for winter.
Ace!
