• Is that before you've attempted to true it? As long as there are no dents in it, I've seen much worse pulled back into shape. I'd probably slacken it right off to see the natural shape of the rim before committing, but 25mm TIR in the axial direction and 10mm TIR radial is within the bounds of being pulled into a true circle without unacceptable tension variation.

    I tried loosening everything then attempting to pull the spokes back to true, but seems the tension required is just too high for this rim. I don't think the straight pull spokes help either - one of the nipples was quite seized and has rounded off the square hole it sits in. I also noticed the join is no longer flush, so new hub and rim it is!
