  • Ah shit dude. Hope it’s better than it sounds. Heal up & take care of yourself.

  • Oof. Heal up. Hope it is nothing serious.

  • ah shit! hope you're not too banged up.

  • Can i ask a question ?
    Yes
Have you ever owned a bike and ridden it ?
Its sounds like you have not done the course.
I am an advanced car driver !
    Bye !

  • Ah ffs, that’s rotten luck. Hoping for a speedy recovery!

  • Shit, hope it's not too bad! Deptford is always so chaotic.

  • Well thanks all. I was at a&e until 3am. My shoulder was pretty painful although collar bone felt ok to touch however it was quite apparent when I got home and cut my base layer off that it was quite V shaped, I nearly fainted lol.
Just got a sling and codeine for now. I'll find out on Monday or Tuesday whether the docs want to do surgery or leave it to heal. I'll push for the former after what I've read on here and heard from friends with ongoing niggly issues years later

  • The worst part is knowing I'll have to try and left hand wipe when I poop today

  • Sitting or standing though?

  • Sitting, I'm not a cave dwelling savage

  • Savage, heal up soon! I had what felt like more of my fair share of accidents on that Deptford to Woolwich stretch!

  • Shiiiit, that's not much fun!

  • It's better since the cycle lane but that brings its own problems. I don't think I'll go back to it after this.
Pretty thankful that it happened the way it did anyway. Slightly more to the right and I'd have hit the lampost with my head which could have been a lot more serious

  • any apology from the pedestrian or anything?

  • Yeah he said sorry but it's fine. Wasn't all his fault. It was a combination of the two guys stepping out and me pulling my foot out of the pedal which kicked me up in the air. Wouldn't have happened if I was on my other bike or the pedals actually worked

  • Did anyone else cycle through a biblical plague of midges* yesterday evening?

  • no but I rode my gravel bike along the Thames towpath from Richmond bridge via Teddington lock to Kingston bridge on Wednesday evening after the midsummer sun had set and my word, there were literally millions of midges in huge clouds. I had a long shower when I got home but even after that I was still picking dead flies out of my eyes.

  • Midges! that's the one, thought I'd be safe cycling without sunnies as it was getting a bit darker but I was basically blind. Madness.

  • Was out around Hackney Marshes on saturday and was in a constant cloud, arms were covered in flies sticking to suncream. Was lovely.

  • Saw a guy on a lime bike riding with his leashed shiba inu running along side him on the busy A105 near Newington Green. Don’t think anything could go wrong with that whole situation.

  • The one good thing about getting stung by a wasp in the morning is that you don’t have to carry your antihistamine tables with you in the afternoon. Bastard fucking things.

  • Police out in force on Bishopsgate past Liverpool Street station from what I’ve heard, be careful out there.

  • FYI - for anyone using the Woolwich Tunnel. Expect to be good at stairs until Winter:

Royal Borough of Greenwich would like to apologise for the ongoing disruption to the passenger elevators in Woolwich Tunnel and we are working as quickly as possible on the north elevator currently out of service.
The lifts were originally installed in 1992 with a 20-year deign life and although modernised in 2010 this design life of further 10-years has also expired life. To specialist advice and manufactures certificates, both passenger elevators are not fit for purpose, hence the continuing breakdowns and inconvenience. In the meantime, we are replacing parts from the elevators that should provide a reliable service for another few years until our long-term strategy for lift replacements can be fulfilled.
Unfortunately, there is a lengthy lead in time for delivery of parts of 19 weeks, aimed for delivery, on-site installation and testing completed by late Autumn 2023.

  • Yeah, I saw that. I also saw a fellow cyclist slowly ride through a red, towards the police and where he then received an entirely avoidable fine. 🤷‍♂️

Bishopsgate was taped off at Liverpool Street when I was heading home (17.30ish), with police not letting vehicles or peds through. Had to detour round Finsbury Sq. Nothing about it online - anyone know what happened?

  • First commute post crash. I’m very unfit. Slightly concerned that I’ve just built a nice fixed gear bike to commute on and I was absolutely blowing riding on my road bike. 15 miles and 1100ft, longest commute I’ve tried by some margin. Once a week should do it for now!
