Would the seller be able to hold it for you if paying upfront? London KX to Hull isn't mega expensive but you need to book about 4 weeks in advance, £58 for day return Sat 5th Aug and no changes. A third off that with a discount pass.
I travel from N.Herts about 4/5 times a year (just went up 2 weeks ago), it's more expensive from my mainline station at Stevenage than it is from KX, it's less hassle from KX as well due to being able to catch the Hull train direct (they stopped alighting at Stevenage years back)
Sorry that's not much help.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
I've got a friend that can help but also wouldn't be able to bring it down until the end of the month as well and ideally it'd be good to get it sooner than that if possible. -

You won't get a train ticket to Hell Hole Hull for £58.
Factor changes and alterations to train schedules, break downs, changes, you may not end up there on the same day. Then you'll need to book a night in a hotel. You'd potentially be taking 2 days out of your life for a practically worthless journey.
How good is the bike?
I have access to Hull from my courier company. The cost will be £75 shipped to your door. -

It's more about it being the right bike rather than how good it is.
Would said courier be able to securely box/package the bike? That is one of the issues I'm having with the seller not wanting to ship or take to a LBS to have it boxed etc -

Understand entirely. The right bike is a gem in of itself. I've personally gone to great lengths to get the right bike. I always ended up feeling it being less than worth it considering the travelling and costs involved.
Bike will be collected as is. Then securely packaged and boxed at our end before forwarding on to your door. Is it a MTB or Road bike, what is the size?

I actually did the quote last night so the price is correct, and there's no changes from KX, as I said, you get the Hull Train's direct service, it's about a 2hr 30 journey. The quotes I found you can connect to the Hull trains' KX direct service about 1.5hours later so plenty of time to get the bike and have time in hand for the return leg.
So it's doable the same day and I've done it a few times myself when I've just gone up for the rugby.
It's cheaper method than your offer and you absolutely know the bike is safe, something you'd want to handle yourself for a bike that is 'the one' instead of relying on others whom you have no idea how they operate. -

You replied to the wrong person.
It's Kingston upon Hull we're talking about, not Kingston upon Thames. To get up there and return in one shot incl. making your way to the stations and destinations is what I'd consider a tall order. Maybe not impossible but still if fares were reasonable or much cheaper you'd plan a day out.

I've used Shiply before without issue; bike didn't need to be in a box.
Eyeing up a bike in Hull but getting there and back from London is going to be a nightmare and the seller isn't open to boxing or shipping or getting a local shop to box and ship.
Hoping there's some kind soul on here that could help in exchange for some money
