  • Same happens with Colnago and similar bonded frames. Saw a guy in Vancouver with an Alan Carbonio wreck it, pulled away at a stop light and his chainstays popped off.

  • Anyone with an affected Open frameset (Open UP Ekar, UPPER Ekar, WIDE Ekar and MIND Ekar) and Campy hydraulic discs, there is a recall to be aware of : https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/open-announces-stop-ride-notice-for-all-campagnolo-equipped-bikes/

  • I guess that's me. Nice fettling. Is there much torsion in the cage?

  • Hi does anyone know whether a set of Campagnolo dust caps would fit on a Shimano 7600 or 7710 hub please? They appear to be the same size with a set of callipers within a mm or so. Just wondering whether anyone has tried it, may be nice to get the metal cap on there and to have a grease port too. Interested to hear ideas, thanks!

  • Galvanic corrosion in metal/carbon fibre boundaries is not something I had considered, that's a good point I will have to look into that.

In regards to the crankset, I think I am going to pass it on to someone who will appreciate it more than me, I am in the market for a Rohloff for touring with and need to save some ££ !

I've been told that Condor Cycles in London does a buy and sell, does anyone have any experience with them? or I can post it on the classifieds here if anyone is interested,
    Best,
    B

  • Just as a word of warning to anyone considering the Miche primato K12 cassette as a cheaper alternative to Campagnolo, the aluminium teeth start to skip after approximately 1k km on the cassettes I’ve owned.

The response I got from Miche included….

“Please be aware that aluminium sprockets have a faster (a lot faster) wearing compared the steel ones.”

    And

“ Once chain slips on teeth, then these are damaged permanently.”

  • I've had a half ti, half ally 10s cassette for quite a while, and the ally cogs are still good...

This one has some sort of plating on it; the ally cogs look similar to the bare ti, but I think the main thing is I've always used a fresh chain on it.

Low speed downshifts under power have gouged it up a bit, but it still shifts fine and doesn't skip.

  • Interesting to hear this, my personal non engineer opinion is that 12 speed cogs are too thin for aluminium?
I’ve been quite careful with my 12 speed drivetrain, cleaned regularly, fresh chain, limited to summer use, etc.

I notice Campagnolo only use steel on all their 12 speed cassettes, appreciate Miche is more of a budget brand, have used one of their 10 speed cassettes in the past and it was good so I expected better.

  • Does anyone have any good condition modernish Campag shifters (9/10/11) that they would be willing to part with? Speed doesn't matter as they will be going on a single speed bike, I just want the familiar hood shape.

    Drop me a DM

  • Bit of an emergency request here. Anyone know of where to source a tiny spring for the right hand super record shifter, see pic, my ride buddy doing the Etap this weekend has literally yesterday had the tiny spring snap in his shifter and he’s struggling to find a replacement. It’s a 2009-2014 design and all he can find are springs with the little hook on the side and not the top! Any suggestions much appreciated!

  • So we now know it’s a part number EV-SR037 and because it’s pre 2015 they are hens teeth

  • Chicken Cycles are the UK distributor, might be worth contacting them? Or user graeme f k (via Weight Weenies link), UK service centre https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=172809&p=1809258&hilit=Graeme#p1809258

Planetx X and Mercian also stock a lot of spares

  • Whereabouts are you?
Only ask as Ricki Pankhurst might be worth a call
Always seems to have all the clips, clamps, wavy washers for all the Campagnolo issues

  • Graeme Freestone King is co-owner of Velotech;

    https://www.velotech-cycling.ltd.uk/about_us.shtml

He used to be the go to person for Campag spares, but don't think he operates the UK service centre any more. But is probably worth dropping a line to see if he could help find someone who might have one.

  • I have most of the internals of a pair chorus shifters of that era. I'll have a root around and see if I have that spring. Just to be clear, should it look identical to the one in the first pic?

  • it's worth calling condor.

  • Yep identical to the first pic, the little hook needs to point upwards 😂

  • I think I’ve got some compatible carbon Athena shifters you can borrow if you can’t source a spring before the ride - they need hoods though…

  • London, but in these situations location becomes less of an issue!

  • Will pass on and see if that’s a feasible option, thanks!

  • Am popping in there later today, will ask

  • So we’ve managed to source a replacement lever from Cycle Clinic, however will still be rooting round for a new spring through the above contacts but no longer urgent. So many thanks to all the above for input. Much appreciated!
