I was the same on the C17. I swapped to a "Selle Italia Sport Gel Flow S2" and can do an all day ride of about 120km without padded shorts on my CDF with relatively high drop bars. YSBMV of course but it's not an expensive or rare saddle to try out, especially if you get one on ebay.

Is there a piece of free software (Windows) that allows you to join two MP4 files (they have been recorded at different resolutions). Tried VLC but that didn't seem to work.

Since we're on video editing, anyone know a cheap way of digitising camcorder tapes with only an Intel onboard gfx card and so far as I know, no video input?

I did this last year with some old camcorder tapes. My camcorder only had RCA outputs and I ended up using two devices, one converted RCA to HDMI and the other was an HDMI capture 'card'.
The exact devices I bought are no longer available but they were pretty much the same as these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/capture-Papeaso-Streaming-Teaching-Black/dp/B0BL3L7W11
The quality was pretty decent for an analogue signal.

There's a cheapish Hauppage USB capture card I'll be getting when I get around to it
Hauppauge 1341 USB-Live2: Capture, display and record old VHS tapes to your PC or Laptop, Black https://amzn.eu/d/i8I2ZDAIf I were better organised I'd already have it and would have been able to lend it to you 😐

Windows photos > video editor?
They've replaced it in Win 11 with something either non-functional or I haven't worked out how to use it but you should be able to install the 'legacy' version.

That's the kind of thing I'm after. I bet I already own one of these in Oz (when pirating VHS was a thing). Cheers.

If I was better organised, I'd have edited the tapes when I recorded them back in 2003...
Thanks for the tip. If I get one, maybe I'll lend it to you. :)

• #117664
I've ordered one so, assuming I ever get around to doing the ripping, it'll be available at some point in time if you don't want to buy your own. I doubt I'll need it after doing the tapes I have. I don't think I've got any more video content (I quickly lost interest in video).

Best bet for a 144bcd silver track chainring?

That seems like it’ll do the job.And are there any options for new carbon inch thread less forks? After snapping a set of old forks, I’m feeling suspicious of everything.

Any train travel wizards on the forum? Just looking at return tickets to Leeds for this weekend. 2 people with a two together Railcard is £125+ on The Trainline which seems absolutely insane. Is that just how much rail travel costs now or is there a way to make it cheaper?
-
• #117669
Look for a time travel wizard instead and book them a couple of months ago. £60 odd each sounds about 'right' for this weekend.
-
• #117670
Booking with the TOC ought to save you Trainline's cut at the very least.
-
• #117671
If that's for both of you I'd say it seems pretty cheap, relative to the usual punishment dished out by our train system...
-
• #117672
You could try https://www.splitticketing.com/ - but in general have found recently it's harder and harder to find cheaper fares. I'd planned to pop down to London from Liverpool for work a couple of times in the past few months and both times had to call it off as it was too pricey (granted left things until a couple of weeks before).
You just need to know your exact plans three months in advance, all the time - easy..! /s
-
• #117673
Even looking a few weeks ahead it's not much cheaper though. Bastards.
-
• #117674
And be warned with split tickets, if a train is delayed and you miss a connection, they’re not liable for further tickets if it’s all separate tickets, but if it’s a single fare I think they are.
The margin between the single fare and split ticketing is closing. -

Have you left London before sir or madam?
I'm paying about the same for a one person return to Llandudno this weekend which is only a little further.
Yeah think so, the 155 Phenom is fine for no padded shorts over long rides. The C17 is close to that I think in widtg, i think it's just the C17 is quite firm.
Think I'm just going to keep the Phenom on and give up the c17 dream for good.
