  • Occasionally I look at replacements... but it works, and I can't see the point in replacing something that works perfectly.

Would a 10-bit display be nice? Perhaps.
4k? Doesn't feel necessary, I'm not that close to the screen that I see pixels.
Thunderbolt? Coped without out, not going to change much for me.
A nice stand? I use a VESA mount on the desk, so not necessary.

I just can't find a compelling reason to replace it.

Perhaps the only reason to replace it is that the current generation of IPS displays is probably the best it will ever be in that investment is now aimed at OLED displays. OLED isn't quite there yet but will be in a few years, but the current backlist IPS is probably as good as it gets... so this year and next is probably the time to buy a monitor for the next decade. But that's not so compelling a reason that I'd do it.

  • I think I'll wait until OLED matures then replace this one with whatever the pinnacle of IPS is.

The funny backwards logic out of this is as with all the tech, I've always been reticent to upgrade as I'm a cheapskate/indecisive and frankly, I don't feel particularly left out.
4k is very much tempting, but in Photographic terms, it makes very little difference on screen VS print, so it's always felt a little pointless.
I've always been on VESA, so all else being equal, I reckon my eyes are shite enough that I'll just trust my wallet and spend the money on a nicer chair.
