• It actually seems to hold a really steady temp at about 150c, there are some vents to turn it up if needed.

I did some ribs and potatoes this afternoon, 3 hours smoking then 30 mins basted in sticky sauce, for only the second run they came out really well.

  • Serious business bbqing that!

  • Fun though!

Warmed the beef cheeks in a bowl of hot water, then had them for for early supper with the kids, cauliflower* mac & cheese on the side.

They were juuuust on the cusp of falling apart, but I managed to slice them cleanly for the money shot.

I can see these being a go-to now. There's still two cheeks left, which I'll freeze & do the bowl of hot water trick again to serve.

    * they didn't suspect a thing, the cute little idiots.

  • Strong work.

Shipyard is very tasty. I shall be consuming more of it this summer on a return trip to Maine.

  • Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • I shall be consuming more of it this summer on a return trip to Maine.

May I suggest Allagash and Foundation if you're in Portland

  • Bit closer to Bangor this time but statewide they seem to be very local product friendly. I shall add those to the list. Thank you.

  • Looking.. good.. to.. me!

  • Any interest in here for buying my Costco kamado?

Moving to France in August and the plan was to take it but we're renting a place with no outside space so storing it for a year before we buy a place is gonna be a bit of a ball ache.

It's been well used but is in perfect nick, I've added a chimney cap which has allowed me use it when it's pissing down and I replaced the gasket felt on it last year. Few rustspots in the screws of the stand but that's about it. There's a cover for it as well.

It's heavy as fuck but breaks down into smaller sections, based in E7 but happy to bring it in the car if you come to help me dismantle it.

    This one in red.

  • Hi, will dm, just what we are looking for

  • Aldi have the mini in at the moment. Worth getting?

  • It is very mini. Definitely can’t do most of the Kamado things you would want to do.

Mainly just a nicer looking bbq

  • I bought one on sale a few months ago, it is fine if there are two of you..I had to.make a heat deflector because it doesn't come with one (you can buy them on eBay).

I am toying with the idea of making a second elevated rack to increase capacity.

  • Got a wifi probe thermometer for my birthday so thought it'd be the perfect time to try smoking in the sunlight. Way trickier keeping temperatures low than I thought but real glad I can monitor it from the house. Think this is gonna be a game changer for sure!

  • Camping / Allotment BBQ - Smokey Joe vs Go Anywhere? Suppose the Go Anywhere is more compact but less cooking area?

  • I think the Go Anywhere may have slightly more cooking area. I remember when I was looking between the two it was really unclear what the cooking dimensions of the Smokey Joe was as it only had it for the US model which may or may not have been the same as the EU model.

The Go Anywhere folds up really neatly for carrying if that makes a difference.

  • +1 for Go anywhere.. we have a cast iron grill for it that is excellent. Grill comes in two parts so you can store a mini starter inside and it all packs away neatly.

  • Monkfish and saffron paella (from Moro cookbook), cooked outside on a Focker 3-ring gas burner.

  • Does Smoking Dad BBQ do a beer can chicken? My googlefu is failing me.

  • Also - is there an idiots guide to beer can chicken? I'm guessing 200ish degrees C, with a deflector, on a pand of some sort w/ potatoes?

  • Hi, I imagine they are all pretty much the same, but has anyone used or know someone who has one of these https://uk.pitboss-grills.com/grills/charcoal/pit-boss-k24-ceramic-charcoal-grill-grey
It is a ceramic egg, but not big green etc, but looks very similar.
    Thansk

  • This is exactly the same as the Costco one I've had for about 5 years, they're great the vents aren't quite as good as the Joe or BGE but thats about it. They're massive as well.
