First time I ever went to Iron-Bridge...or is it IronBridge, or perhaps Iron Bridge? Henceforth (and only if there is a henceforth), I shall call it IB. Anyway the descent down into the Severn Valley was surprising. I like descents being an mtb'er but a sharp hairpin to the right saw me endo (and I don't ever, by choice, endo my road bike) straight towards the gravelly road edge. Fortunately I saved it and managed to get the bike back on track only for a Corsa to then overtake me on the straight (still a sharp gradient down) immediately following this hairpin. I feel somewhat perturbed as I'd pretty much thrown away perhaps the highlight of the whole ride, i.e. a nice controlled descent through some sharp chicanes on an aggressive gradient.
Also slept in a field next to a huge pile of horse/cattle shit for a couple of hours. Waking up with the sun blazing down on me was a true solstice moment.
Fcuk me it was hot. I think I've aged another 20 years, and it's not like I was young before!! I'll come back to you if I can remember anything else.
Oh, and I did Wander Wye the weekend before too. Loved that route though I performed more bad due to lack of sleepage the night before the start. Fantastic little lanes but agree with @youramericanlover in that the roads back to Wimbledon were a nightmare.
