Creeping thyme is a good shout.
The only thing is that you'll need it to get established, so I'd start at one end and move your car down, then plant more at the other end and move your car up.
Try and get them in ASAP, because the growing conditions are great. He's a shit photo of what were little 3" pots. I'll try and get the variety and post it at some point - the dark purple has grown much faster.

I’ve got this patch of ground next to my drive way. I need to do something with it. Not sure what. The only problem is we have to walk on it to get into the car, and about half way down the car door needs to open and close.
Are there any plants that don’t mind being trodden on other than grass?
