  • Carbon wheels overheated the latex tube and exploded the tube and then broke the wheel.

(This is when I was descending) - Journey from London to Paris.

  • Crikey.
Was it the sudden deflation that broke the wheel or the impact of the road/weight of your front fork, on a tubeless tyre?

CliveO has already discussed the tubilotos here, and I had a little wobble where I had a puncture in my front tyre last week. The behaviour of the front tyre with a deflated latex tube is probably dangerous, unlike a rubber tube; the loss of handling, to me, is more pronounced.

  • I think it was likely the explosive nature of the plastic tube getting super heated and the subsequent pressure increase. Boom!!!

  • It was the heat in the carbon wheels which burst the tubeolito which the allow the rims to be riding on the road before it broke and threw me off the bike.
