• Just received a pair of these. 66g lighter than XTR pedals and £100 less at £33 all in.

  • Why rip off one brand when you can do two?🙂

Also not really apples to apples if you compare a single sided plain bearing road SPD to the double sided all roller XTR.

  • I have one pair of xtr pedals that I switch between 3 bikes. These will be going on a road specific bike, worth a try for the money and comparative enough for me. Whether they explode within the year is yet to be seen.

  • Is that in the new ones? My XTR pedal only had ball bearings.

  • I've used single sided SPD on the road, from A525 in the 80s through DuraAce in the 90s and some weight weenie options in the 2000s. I don't any more 🙂

If I wanted a no-platform SPD for road use, I'd just get PD-M540 and ignore the haters

  • My XTR pedal only had ball bearings

Ball bearings are rolling element bearings. Apologies for being inclusive 😀

  • I was thinking of these type of bearings with rollers

  • Spheres, cylinders and cones can all roll

  • So what's the difference to the Paedo pedals? Those are cartridge bearings?

  • Those Xpedo pedals, as well as some Wellgo models and others, use a ball bearing for the inboard side and a DU bushing (i.e. plain bearing) outboard (or vice versa). There's nothing especially wrong with that, they're robust, cheap, and allow for a low stack height without using stupidly tiny rolling elements. The ball bearing handles the small axial load, and the bushing handles the majority of the much larger radial load. The downside is they have much more bearing drag, especially under load.

  • Thanks

  • Needle bearings fits the bill, I think

  • Tapered roller bearings.

  • Well yes, I thought the rolling element was in question.

  • Elite wheels.
Has anyone on here used them?

  • I've had a set of light(ish) wellgo SPDs that failed within a year. Back to Shimano I went.

  • Elite wheels.
Has anyone on here used them?

    Also interested in feedback 👍

  • I heard them mentioned on cade media and they're very reasonably priced. BUT.
There's probably very good reason why LB/Farsports/Winspace.

  • Re the long sleeve jersey. Thanks for the tip. A bargain for £16. Reasonably cool this morning and I think with a string vest will be perfect for spring/autumn.
    I ordered a large (6' tall, 11 1/2 st). Sizing is fine.

  • I’ve got a pair of some what older elite wheels with RD07 hubs that I bought for super cheap second hand. I find them being good quality. Got help from their team to buy different end caps to convert them to through axle, they were super helpful. The hubs are loud as heck though, and have had some problems with the free hub body coming off way to easily…

I’m super happy with them but, again, I bought them for about 200 EURO so my standards weren’t that high... Would happily have payed full price for them, and are thinking about getting a 650b pair as well.

  • Good to know.

  • Out of interest how many orders were there and what discount did Lightbicycle do on the last group order? Might get some more rims in the distant future and just wondering whether the black friday sale would be an easier solution

  • With the SPD knock offs that I tried, they always were terrible to clip in. The metal bit that is under spring tension is lacking some profiling around the notch. If you would look at pictures of f.e m540's you can see there a flat profiling around the notch. The Wellego's seem to be missing it.
