    This GPS tracker looks really good, I'm going to get one for the XTZ when I collect it... seems like it would be the sort of thing insurance companies would like to see for all you London folk?

  • Anyone ever had a saddle repaired? Who did you use?
    When I got knocked off last week the saddle got ripped (only a small rip) and the other parties insurers are asking for a repair quote. The saddle was in very good condition so I’ve no real desire to bodge it myself.

  • looks a lot of dough for a base spec 749. Cool bikes, but hold out for an S with the swedish gold and some farkles

    The S certainly has better reviews. Maybe a Ducati forum could shed more light on this particular bike?

  • I could repair it for you depending on the damage. You’d be best to remove it to staple it back on the seat pan yourself.

    As far as quotes can’t help since I’m not set up as a proper business, but you could search online for shops that give a general ‘from’ price for the work.

    For example, if it was your jacket, leather jacket zip repairs range from £30-£80, so I would screengrab the places that say £80.

  • On second thought try Fowlers Parts for a replacement cover, or even replacement seat. It’s about making your bike the same as before the damage, so try for a replacement not a repair.

  • Yes I think I’m going to push for replacement. A new seat is just under £300 and getting it repaired is going to be a pain in the arse and I’ll be without a bike whilst it’s done. The saddle was also in fairly immaculate condition so me stapling a cover on is never going to look as good.
    The fire brigade insurers seem to be not overly fussed about paying out so hopefully they won’t care.

  • Who did the service on the duke, what are the opening and closing clearances. Any issues with the rockers.

    What rear shock, has it got the adjustable headset angle, and adjustable rear? What are the wheels? Original or lightweight ones.

  • I’d just go for new everything. It wasn’t your fault and it was unavoidable*. You should get your bike back to the condition it was before it got love-tackled.

    (As in, you couldn’t have predicted and avoided it. Certainly they could have avoided it by moving more safely.)

    This. Insurance and liability is there to return you to the same place as you were before anything happened, not just make right the damage.

  • Inc a payout to cover increased premiums from having an accident...

  • The non-fault Cat N on the DR a month before the insurance ran out was awful timing. It now carries a £450 excess instead of £250 like the CBR on the renewed policy. So yes, beware all the rising costs on their behalf.

  • SC Project Twin Conic slip-on fitted. It does sound very nice!
    I didn't have the appropriate fitting hardware so ended up resorting to a zinc plated bolt and some washers from local hardware place which will be replaced with stainless or titanium but it's on at least!

  • I hope so. Early signs are good.

    This is my antedote to my idiotic first bike decision. Passed my test in Feb and bought a duke 890. Way too much bike for someone cutting their teeth. Sold the duke.

    This feels much more manageable to develop my muscle memory on. And maybe dabble in some light off road.

  • Check what tyre pressure they have you running. Those IRC’s are totally fine (I put a set on the DR for economic reasons), but on green lanes you’ll want to cut the psi in half if you want to keep your sphincter from developing its own muscle memory.

  • Haha. I'll check it out with my pressure gauge. They feel very firm, likely set up for the road.
