My Volvo XC70’s original rims were chrome powdercoated from the factory, which almost entirely corroded off, leaving the rim beads rough and unable to hold air very well.
I had them turned on a lathe, and the beads sealed with a substance. This worked for a while, until they started leaking air again so I replaced them with identical but non-chromed rims.
Apparently the insides of my wheels need painting to help mitigate the tires constantly going down.
Is this a thing?
In valve stem seal news from a few pages back it looks like I'm driving to Birmingham (from Reading) to meet Matty who will replace them for £100. Still seems sketchy.
