  • On second thought try Fowlers Parts for a replacement cover, or even replacement seat. It’s about making your bike the same as before the damage, so try for a replacement not a repair.

  • Yes I think I’m going to push for replacement. A new seat is just under £300 and getting it repaired is going to be a pain in the arse and I’ll be without a bike whilst it’s done. The saddle was also in fairly immaculate condition so me stapling a cover on is never going to look as good.
    The fire brigade insurers seem to be not overly fussed about paying out so hopefully they won’t care.

  • I’d just go for new everything. It wasn’t your fault and it was unavoidable*. You should get your bike back to the condition it was before it got love-tackled.

    (As in, you couldn’t have predicted and avoided it. Certainly they could have avoided it by moving more safely.)
