I think this looks like a lovely and calm nursery space. No doubt there are some classily illustrated (but bollocks) picture books on the shelf on the right and some wooden animal toy ornaments too. Allow the pre baby nesting perfection.
We only ever painted our kids rooms white, which quickly became drawn-on and grease/poo/bogey smeared.
Beyond 2yrs the plastic tat starts to build and before you know it the floor is 75% lego, there are rotting forgotten snacks under the bed, you have given them wardrobes they won't use and the walls are covered in stickers and blue-tacked magazine posters.
Each to their own but its the overly 'curated' older kids rooms you see on the renno accounts that annoy me more.
Because they are clearly driven by mummy / daddy for their blog rather than what the kid actually wants. 10 yo (IME) do not give a fuck about seasonal shelf displays or muted scandi chic. -

Nah. I reckon the kids are as insufferable as the parents.
They probably have a ticktock of their productivity zones.

Some serious detritus from behind radiators and pipe boxing from small people, including some ‘matter’ that was neither solid nor liquid but obviously of some age, no idea if it was a vegetable stew that didn’t get eaten or vomit.

This looks so similar like what was behind our sofa when we moved it to have our floors done.
But with more fluff and dust.

Our finest moment was going on holiday last summer and forgetting to do a sweep of the youngest's bedroom. He likes a cocoa before bed. He left half a cup on the shelf. Holy hell it smelled like death.... for literal weeks.

A mate's bro once left a protein shake on his bedside before going on holiday.
Mate heard a mini explosion type noise and went in to find rotten fermented protein shake everywhere.

Arrived at home on Friday to a smell of blue cheese. I thought, my partner has cooked something with blue cheese.
There was no blue cheese in the dinner, which pushed us to investigate.
It's the kitchen. It's not this cupboard, not this one, not the thrash, not the fridge.
We singled it down to a spot in the kitchen where no food is stored.
It really reeks. Like decaying flesh. I have flashbacks of several homeless people I encountered in public transport with a filthy bloody rag on some limb or the other which smells exactly the same.
The smell is really persistent, it stays in the nose for hours.. Blue. Cheese.
I remember the cute little mousey that I saw a couple of weeks ago in the courtyard. We live on the ground floor, brick vault floor with wooden beams and floor boards with quite some nice cavities for say a mouse to crawl in and... DIE.Apparently our options are opening up the floor or wait it out for two weeks.
I hope the temperatures speed up the decaying process... -

Top tip for anyone getting an en-suite at the back rather than eves, go for a skylight above your shower!
Pleasantly surprised how this is coming together.

I like the skylight!
What LEDs are those by the way?
-
• #7189
Looks alright that!

Cheers!
No idea on LED, Essex builder said they’d be “a touch” so thought why not… going in a strip under that overhang. -

This looks gorgeous. Hope you've got neighbours with a drone hobby.

Ah - May I suggest checking the IP rating? They look like the IP30 type, which may not like bathroom environments.

Will double check, cheers.

Anyone know of a builders who can insulated our floorboards? (Removing board, Rockwool fitted hanging on beam and refitting)
We got quoted £1600 which is much higher than expected.

How big an area are they doing? (Sqm)
-
• #7198
What is the floor area?
Anything between the flooring and the joist to deal with? Furniture to move?
-
• #7199
Didn’t you already do that…?

DIY. it’s one of the easier jobs even for a novice (me)
My sister has the theory that bedrooms for young kids are just for sleeping in and toys and the rest should be elsewhere. She has three kids and everyone is still alive and no-one has gone insane so there may be something in that.
