I love Speedplay (even though I switched to Favero Assioma’s), but “improves walking comfort”??!
Always had the original Speedplay (ie non-Wahoo), so curious- what was the warranty issue on these and the Powerlinks?

Both sets are brand new so have no issues. Tbh I don't want to get into a discussion about warranty issues.

Lol.
Really strange that you had two different sets of Speedplay pedals warrantied at the same time.
Buyer beware! -

When I worked in the shop 80% of wahoo pedals failed. I wouldn’t buy anything second hand.
Edit: 100% of mine and my colleague’s pedals died. Both bike mechanics. They ended up giving him the power pedals FOC, I gave up and went to time. -

In what way did they fail? The same thing over and over?
Is there a design fault or something?
I don’t use Speedplay but the vast majority of riders in my group do and I’ve never heard anyone complain!
The OP volunteering some info would probably help the sale. -

To be totally clear, both sets of pedals I am selling are 100% brand new, in unopened boxes.
That there have been historical issues with Speedplay is well documented (The Cycling Tips article that came out last year was probably the most comprehensive article to look at it), and I have been totally honest and said I received them as warranty replacements.
However, as an ex-Wahoo employee I am also very aware of the lengths the company has gone to to resolve these issues.
Guess I will just stick them on eBay and save my self the headache.

As far as I know the issue wasn’t resolved, it’s axle play. The rep gave us a new reason for the fault every visit. Wahoo don’t have any money to fix it they’re almost bankrupt. I wouldn’t touch these with a barge pole.

I know it's against forum protocol but maybe people shouldn't comment on someone's thread if they're not even interested in buying the product? Might make people's sales a hell of a lot easier!!

on the contrary to this thread I've never had an issue with speedplays over the last 8 or so years, all pairs of which I have bought second hand. They're super easy and cheap to service even when the bearings do break down and the newer versions of them with the full diameter bowties (which this thread is for) seem to have resolved the issue with the plastic bodies eventually wearing down.

They used to be good, then wahoo messed it up with their new bearing design. Why would we protect sellers rather than buyers. It’s a forum for conversations.

I’m not saying everyone has an issue but…

I wouldn’t go near a set without warranty and I presume OP has had failures if he has two warranty replacements for sale.
-
• #15
Or he used to work for Wahoo so has a couple of spare sets
-
• #16
You're talking about a completely different product and company - original Speedplays were/are excellent.
Wahoo bought speedplay recently and changed the designs, the new versions apparently have a huge failure rate, so purchasing some of these Wahoo versions, without a warranty (unless they were mega cheap) would be madness.

the wellbeing of the forum community at large is much more important than the success of a certain individual user's sale. hence these types of comments are welcome, even desired.
if you prefer to not have 'people poking their noses' in your sales threads, you're welcome to enjoy the wild west of gumtree or facebook marketplace.

I don’t think asking valid questions does any harm.
It’s hard to see why the OP wouldn’t simply share more information instead of being all cryptic.Calling out slightly suspect sounding sales can save other forum members from getting done over.
If you don’t want your sale thread being open to legitimate scrutiny then eBay might be the better choice.
Lfgss classifieds is one of the best places for buying cycling gear and it’s absolutely not a dick move to simply ask for a bit more information. -

Yea, I get that... I've bought and sold quite a few bits on here and been very happy, but someone saying they wouldn't touch the pedals with a barge pole doesn't help anyone. If it was your thread, you'd probably feel the same?
-

the seller could've been transparent in the get go on the known issues (whether related to the particular model he's selling or a closely related other model) and avoided all these comments.
-
• #21
I would feel that I’ve been called out on a genuine concerns that anyone would be aware of if they spent 5 mins googling, nevermind apparently working for the company that made said product.
-

Agreed, and priced them to reflect the risk. The OP is trying to sell the power versions at nearly retail price - without a warrantee knowing full well of the relatively high chance they are duds. Thats £600+, if I was shopping I would be glad for others adding context. LFGSSers need to look after LFGSSers.

If it was my thread I’d be completely open, answer any questions to help the sale and try not to spit the dummy when called out for not being very forthcoming.
I think the OPs grumpy-pants tone hasn’t really helped them much either. It was pointed out in their other thread that the asking price is only slightly lower than what treadz are selling them for with warranty. OP replied with “buy them from treadz then”
That and the “not up for warranty discussion” is just a bit lame.
I don’t think the barge pole comment is that shocking. I’d personally probably think twice before buying Wahoo era Speedplays now.
Brand new in box, never been opened - Speedplay Zero Stainless Steel pedals pedals
