We have outside stairs to the basement, and the problem was that water doesn't come from the top, but from the bottom, groundwater, when it is really heavily raining for some days. I made a raised platform in front of the basement door to have some more time when the water raises – it helped several times, but two weeks ago not, and (not soo much) water was in the basement. Because of my platform the water couldn't drain off to this hole outside, which was probably the plan what should happen with water when the basement is flooded when the house was built. So hopefully this new installed pump will help me A) to stop water when it raises as much as possible or B) help me to put water out of the basement in worst case.
