I put them on Liz’s shopper, but took them back off again after she stacked it.

I used to have exposures as winter/commute tyre. Pretty durable compared with the gravelkings I had before but wet grip was gatorskin level. Try Vittoria

Vittoria Corsa Control if your budget allows. Grippy, hard wearing and pretty puncture resistant (until they wear out, then they let you know they are worn out by puncturing a lot).

Thank you Andy. That's a bit more than I wanted to spend, but an extra tenner on each tyre is vastly preferable to hours of browsing through review sites and specs. The thing that gets me is for each tyre, there will be [brand] [model] which costs £20 and is (apparently) shit, but the same [brand] [model] GT2 will be £70 and the (apparently) best you can get.

Panaracer Ribmo or pasela?
If you can fit slightly larger conti contact urban would be my go to- they’re smallest is 700x28, they usually come up a little narrower than advertised

I actually forgot to mention I should be getting these Rivendell Roly Polys (no me neither, but low cost plus not buying new has swayed me)

I love roly polys. Not absolutely bomb proof but pretty tough and they feel great. Got a couple of pairs off PX when they were cheap, I might stick an old pair on for the summer.

I need 700c 45mm-50mm gravel tyres. I've narrowed it down to Maxxis Rambler or Pirelli Cinturo Gravel M (I think I can only find 50mm in the tan wall version of the Pirelli).
Anyone tried either of these? Any reviews?

• #9861
Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M are great, absolutely bombproof, pretty good in all conditions and roll surprisingly well.

Super, ta

Been running both the H and M version of the Cinturato, both in 40 and 45mm, for the past few years. Seal of approval.

In case this is relevant to anyone else, Decathlon sells Michelin Pro4 Endurance in 25c for £30 each or £55 a pair. Cheaper than I've seen them elsewhere.

Michelin power cup is a fiver more at decathlon and is a great fast all rounder. Not as robust as pro4.

Any suggestions for a puncture resistant tyre, 35mm approx, all year round training tyre that might occasionally go mixed terrain. Not too heavy. Pasela has been my go to.

Another set of paselas.

Asking for derision by all accounts, but is the extra puncture protection on Gravelking slick “plus” worth it for loss in rolling resistance/feel compared to regular GK slicks?
I read on a forum post that the extra puncture protection is actually only in the sidewalls, but can’t find this corroborated elsewhere. Also in b4 someone tells me not to buy gravelkings at all.

Love gravelkings in all their guises, I got sent a + in error, couldn't feel any difference to the standard one, just buy some, try em out, if you don't like em sell em to some schmuck on here.

Well I’m currently 2x on headsets, potentially 2x on sets of levers, want to try and avoid doubling up on anything else, lol.
But reassuring that you couldn’t notice a difference.

• #9871
How do you find them? Bicyclerollingresistance suggests it’s basically a slightly faster rolling GP4 season, right?
-
• #9872
i just slid out going rather carefully down a paved hill on challenge strade bianche 36mm htlr at 50psi and although i already knew this i would like to note for the record that these tires have terrible wet grip. maybe pressure was a bit high but i was barely turning in a wide sweeper, doing about 22mph and front wheel went out and i now have much less skin on my left side.
-
• #9873
specialized mondo, gp5000 all season, pirelli cinturato all come in 35mm and are reasonably tough. if you want actual tread you could go with a fast 35mm gravel tire like terra speed or g-one rs, but pavement grip isn't as good and wear will be faster.

Anyone got any experience with Hutchinson Touareg?
Came on my bike and felt incredibly harsh, I think partly down to them being pumped up to maximum rated PSI. I let some air out which helped but wonder if they are always going to be harsh.
Also suspect they might be overkill for the riding I'll mostly be doing - more tending towards towpaths and other bits touring, rather than full on gravel, in which case does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement?
-
• #9875
Yeah, I've got one on my front wheel now. 45mm.
I don't do supple/harsh/rolls well blah blah blah. I don't notice shit, unless maybe I'm going from a race tyre to a 1kg ramp tyre. I just ride tyres over stuff.
Anyway, I like it. Used it in Scotland for An Turas Mor and 7 Serpents. Not super gripping once totally caked in mud (but neither is anything else) but generally I like it. Weirdly managed to puncture it going uphill but plugged fine.
I guess I like it because its been ridden over everything and apart from that one weird one it's been solid.
No, Wiggle. Looks like everyone has been trying to shift their stock! Seemed particularly slippery on damp tarmac, which is a fun thing to discover when you’re braking hard on one of Sheffield’s steepest descents.
