Could I drill this bridge to accept a brake?

Take the paint off that brake bridge and I guess there will be a filled in hole, hopefully something soft and not brass!

It would be lovely if it was Bondo®, brazing would be a good second, weld infill would be worse than there having been no hole there at all.
