  • So, the basket Marin Bear Valley SE is no longer.

Even though I loved how that bike rode, loved the look and fandom, it was time to pass it on. Simply because something more interesting and rarer came in through work and I couldn't say no.

    Enter: A2 bikes A77.

What is that you say? Who are they? Well, little information can be found on the company apart from they were a well respected sports brand in the 80/90 that made hi end ski and snowboard gear, and then some roller blades? And then dipped their toe in bikes... Some say they never built their bikes themselves and got other brands to build and they just branded then, who knows, it's all unclear.

I can not find much information on the A2 bikes side of thing, though this German fourm thread explains some of the brand and bike history

From what I can find, it's 1994 and the second highest specced model they produced in this line up.

I would also say one of the coolest, the smoothed welds look something like cannondale would do, the top tube is profiled at the seattube and then head tube, the cable routing on the TT is cool, the dropouts look like something from a Yeti, the in house branded "K-tec" parts are cool, the frame is silly light - made from 7005 Easton tubing and then the cool graphics and paint job..

Overall I am stoked on how the first iteration of this "Ronnie Wagon" has turned out. It is so much nimble than the marin was, has a shorter wheel base, perhaps steeper head angle, the weight definitely helps.

    Looks super nice too.

I am waiting on a chain and cassette and then I can run full 9 speed XTR on this build, also want some matching silver braided outer housing to complete the look...

Please, as always let me know what you think and if ANYONE has any information on K2 bikes or has one themselves please share.

(if you can't tell, I'm buzzing about this build)
