Don't know if the Tyre Glider tool has passed by on the forum yet. Looks like a silly product but I always struggle to put on tyres with my spaghetti strength arms and thumbs. No more since I started using it last year. https://tyreglider.co.uk/
And unlike those oversized tools by BBB and the like, this just fits in my saddlebag. -

They make it look so easy. I want to see it in real use.
Anyone used one of these and can compare with the Speed Lever?

I have used it on 5 or 6 different types of tyres and rims now and never had issues (where previously I had). I'm also quite popular on club runs now whenever someone flattens.
Very anecdotal evidence ofcourse but for £10 it's worth to try imo. I'm buying 2 more btw so I have one in every saddlebag so I never forget it on the road.

It's not really a big deal for me - I only take my Speedlever on ultras for when my hands are cold and/or fuxxored. But curious if it works better or not. It looks smaller which is nice.

The guy uses it a bit weird and clumsy. I put on the tyre with my hands and use the tool only for the last section. He is correct in stating that it's a bit weird to get a tyre off the rim, I also use a lever for that. So I carry 1 lever and the glider.

I still carried normal, cheapo plastic levers with me. I'd chop and change depending on level of rage, dexterity, etc

Re the BJP, the internet is full of stuff saying things like " They are truly fantastic. Fast rolling, a buttery smooth ride quality, and more watts (according to science anyway)..." which is just not how I found them.
Maybe it's just me but I can't understand that sot of chat about them tbh. Guys claiming they're faster than the 25s on their road bikes etc. Just no.

Imagine that, people saying that tyres felt just like the marketing blurb said they would! :D

That Crank Brothers one is excellent - I have one at home and one in the bag. It can sometimes be usefully supplemented by a traditional 3-pack of 'normal' plastic ones for holding a tricky tyre on a spoke, but overall it makes the whole change easier.

They need to justify paying that much for Gravelkings

Found some old (but never ridden) Conti Sport Contact II in the garage so popped them on my bike. Wow, they're surprisingly nice aren't they? Feel much nicer than the cheapo Lifeline ones I was riding previously.

Such a great tyre from my experience. Fast and tough. Big shame it’s discontinued, I think it’s now the contact speed, or some variation, but for a long time the contact II were easy to get v cheap. Enjoy!

Is it acceptable for some liquid stuff that remains from sealant to leak like that? Rene Herse extralight casing after 1 year of use. It holds air well, just every seam of a tire is wet.
Dont'really care about the looks of it but wondering if it will fail eventually on one of those seams.

Anyone else riding WTB byways? Is it just me or do they appear to provide zero grip in pretty much every context?
-
• #9844
I’ve got them in the 700 x 34c variety and they don’t offer much it the way of grip. Not the worst, but certainly not the best.

I assume they’re like a worse horizon on tarmac and horizons aren’t great

I used to use Clement LGG Strada but now they appear to no longer exist as a tyre or a company? I stopped paying attention to bike parts around the first lockdown, so what are people using for dependable winter road clinchers in 25c? Before that I used Durano (plus?), but the LGG were a bit more supple...

Glad it’s not just me. Headed out for the first proper ride on them in damp conditions the other day and had a couple of twitchy pant-filling moments on some steep descents. Reckon I’ll rag them to pieces over the summer and then switch out to something different. I’ve got some beat up 700c wheels I’ll be using for winter duties anyway, and the pair of byways cost me less than £30 as they were on offer. Maybe slightly clearer why they were on offer now.

They turned into Donnelly Strada LGG I believe

Merlin? I went for the same deal. The first ride they felt ok, but it was dry…

Hmmm... and now I've Googled them they have terrible reviews. Hate buying tyres. I much prefer just acquiring half used ones with wheels and living with them.
You're welcome. :)
