  • I remember seeing a documentary or video about that submarine. No idea when or where unfortunately. But it had an issue with one of the propellers being mounted backward, so if you tried to go forward on the controller, the submarine rotated.

Doesn't exactly fill me with courage in regards to how rigourous they were in maintaining/operating it

  • Courts often ignore attempts to contract out of strict liability

  • It's gotta be more interesting and likely more unique than paying sherpas to carry all your shit to the top of Everest for you.

  • Perhaps The Travel Show, Take Me To Titanic: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p0fpz9zw via @bbciplayer

  • The British millionaire has been described as an "adventurer".

No he isn't; he can just afford incredibly expensive (and questionable) tourist pursuits.

  • He might be an adventurer too

  • Is he bollocks.

  • That’s a smidge of good news, they’ve been now all over YouTube promoting their views by a lots of YouTubers.

  • You can’t exclude legal liability for death or injury from negligence in English law.

Whether the contracts are under English law or not, who knows - esp if the possible negligence is in international waters?

  • "On 9–11 July 2019, Harding was mission director and crew pilot for the flight mission One More Orbit, which set a world speed record for the fastest circumnavigation of Earth by aircraft over both geographic poles."

"On 5 March 2021, Harding and Victor Vescovo dived to the deepest point of the Mariana Trench, the Challenger Deep at a depth of 36,000 feet (11,000 m), in a two-man submarine, setting the records for greatest length covered and greatest time spent at full ocean depth."

"Harding flew to space as part of the suborbital Blue Origin NS-21 mission, on 4 June 2022, on the fifth spaceflight of the New Shepard rocket."

    Sounds pretty adventurous to me.

  • Same goes in (some) Civil Law traditions. Businesses aren’t fined for including the clause, and it might stop someone from suing, so they all try their luck at preemptively washing their hands of any responsibility.

More people need to know that crap doesn’t tend to work out in court. (This is not legal advice)

  • negligence

Someone would have to prove they were negligent.

  • Occasionally the onus is on the operator to prove they met a minimum standard of care.

  • I'm sure that paperwork is being produced as we speak :)

  • That was it for sure, yeah. Also took them a surprisingly long time to figure out that if one is mounted backward, trying to turn will send you either forward or backward

  • Sounds pretty adventurous to me.

That's all relative. I've eaten seafood at an all-day buffet, which arguably is more adventurous.

  • And I didn't die.

  • Useful clarification, thanks.

  • adventure isn't about being one of a very few able to afford to buy a seat on some spacecraft
adventure is getting out there and doing the hard yards, a walk to the north or south pole. through the amazon or across the darien gap, rowing an ocean with your bare hands ( and a boat obviously )

having a big bank account doesn't make you an adventurer

  • having a big bank account doesn't make you an adventurer

    Tell that to the Victorians.

    1. Just being a normal pilot and having money to burn on fuel.
    2. Passenger.
    3. Also a passenger.
  • it wasn't easy travelling back in those days. it was a major outing to get even to europe.

having a 1hr flight on bransons spacevirgin to the edge of the atmosphere isn't exactly challenging. sit there and hope it was built right isn't adventure it's just a matter of hoping the engineers didn't mix up their inches and centimetres while doing their caclulations, and having enough bunce in the old bank account.

ranulf fiennes was an adventurer and chopped his own fingers off. thats what it's all about.

  • Mr Billionaire’s family office and legal team will (should) have crisis and emergency plans in action. Sorting the actual nuts and bolts if he never appears will involve reams of paperwork so high that new interns will be explicitly required to have experience working with very large document files.
