Given that spray stuff was banned, I would suggest this is probably in the same bracket. Not even sure he can tape it?

I'm thinking a clear coating put on in the dressing room. Umpire doesn't need to know. A thin DIY or surgical product which has the same grip as skin. He probably wouldn't want tape because it would change the feel.
