I find that offensive but totally understand.

thanks for the link, been thinking about this one too for a wedding in the Brissle orbit, but the word ‘headwind’ seems to scream out at me from every other paragraph : )
Maybe post-wedding noodle back to London.

Wasn't meant that way. There are some beautiful rides here, but also a lot of forgettable greyness.

Trip is approaching fast! Been checking out all the tips, but haven't worked on the final route yet. I'll post it once we get it done.
Does anyone know of a bikeshop in London where we could "book" four empty bike boxes? We will roll in on July 8th (Saturday).

Wahey! No longer there BUT always keen to help!
+larsenroad what do you mean by "book" 4 boxes? To store them? Or you need 4 boxes for 8th July?
I suspect it's the former.
-
• #34
Hey! Actually the latter: We fly to Manchester, so will ditch boxes and assemble bikes there, then end up in London before we fly home from Heathrow.
-
• #36
Yeah I can definitely help out with boxes! The only problem is the warehouse full of empty boxes is the complete opposite side of the city to Heathrow and we're not open on Saturdays. If you're stuck, let me know and I'm sure we can figure something out but somewhere further west might be a better bet.

Cool, thanks. We'll try to sort it with a bikeshop. Looks like we'll be staying in Shoreditch, but not 100%.
-
• #38
It's a shame BLB only sells stolen bikes otherwise they might have had a box
-
• #39
If you're in Shoreditch, give Paradise Cycles or SBC a call.
Anyone here have contacts for either shop?
-
• #40
Good shouts. SBC didn't deal with boxes, but shop looks sick so we'll try to stop by anyway. Paradise could help, so great to have that sorted.
In other news, I'm trying to make a rack for my new Wit Slingers rando bag in time for the trip.
Tbc tonight as ghetto hulsroad will blow holes in everything with the mig and start all over again.

Yeah both shops are sick and would be my regular had I lived North of the river
Rack looks sick!
Which pub for the welcome drinks then? ;)
-
• #42
You tell me! We will definitely arrive thirsty :)
The rack hustle continued last night, and it's pretty much finished.

Did you get sorted?

That looks great 👌
-
• #46
Yes, all sorted now. Thanks!

Thanks! Happy with the new setup. Allows me to have less in the seat pack (not pictured). Sorted the hardware and mounted the fork racks to have a quick shake-down last night. It feels great.
Just a few days left!

Just a couple of days left!
I've modified the route a bit to include some of the recommendations here. We'll ride out from the airport and follow the @sifriday route. Also included the Gospel Pass in @C4r1s fashion. Will see if we drop by Bristol or just keep at it towards Wootton Bassett.
Here is the Strava route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3071381481736825630
If you wanted to have a look at the GPX, @platypus, here's a link for that: https://www.strava.com/routes/3071381481736825630
Still time to modify, but from what I've been checking at street view, this is going to be pretty awesome.
Will try to keep the thread updated in case anyone wants to tag along for a ride.

Only suggestion might be riding up the wye valley between Chepstow and Monmouth. Tintern abbey is really worth a trip, there are some stunning swimming spots in the wye and lovely pubs. I don't know the cross country route you've drawn via Usk because I'd always go via the wye (or the road on the ridge to the west of the valley) and whilst it may well be nice I bet it has less massive ruined abbeys or charming swim spots 🤣. Monmouth to Aber is a nice road too...

Depending on your schedule you could stay at Penrhos Isaf Bothy. If it's during the week chances are it wont be mid party when you arrive, but that could be entertaining also depending on what vibe you are after. Would also be nice if it's raining to not have to deal with a tent.
It's just off your route as you come down into Dolgellau.
