I'm going full squish. The Chisel has done me well, but I want to do more XCM and the hardtail was hard work for that.
Specialized don't do a non-Sworks Epic Evo frame.
So I just bought the base model and am swapping my random collection of parts from the Chisel, which goes back up for sale.So far, I have:
- Taken off all the parts of the Epic Evo, except the Saddle and Stem
- Stashed the stock parts in a box
Then, on the Chisel, I have:
- Removed blue Sid, wheels, cranks, bars, dropper
- Re-fitted the stock parts for those
- Fitted new BB
- Swapped old tyres on to the stock wheels, refreshed sealant
- Fitted new shift cable outer and inner, dialed in brakes and shifting
- Fitted some flat pedals
- Gave a clean and a short test ride
Then I have:
- Taken the blue fork for a service at LBS
- Serviced my OneUp Dropper
- Fitted Fork, Stem, Bars, Seatpost
- Prepared new Levers and ispec shifter and dropper lever
- Routed new brake line (quite fiddly)
Tomorrow I'll hopefully make some more progress.
- Taken off all the parts of the Epic Evo, except the Saddle and Stem

Chisel back in its almost stock state. Left the 4 pot brakes on it though.

Was a proper pita ... Had it all set up yesterday evening and started to brake in the pads in the back lane. All of a sudden the front brake seized up and didn't let go. Pressed the pistons in and heard the dreaded crunchy noises. Cracked pistons on a brand new caliper and oil pissing on the new brake pads as well.
Had to scramble to get a new one today. Anyways. Here we are. It's raining so didn't have a chance to go for a shakeout ride yet. -

My dream bike, great choice. Should be a brilliant xcm and all round trail bike
Do you have a lockout on the front? -

I've just done exactly the same Chisel > Epic Evo transition, although I went for the Expert.
My Chisel is pretty knackered, thinking of possibly putting a rigid fork on there and keeping it for gravel/bikepacking duties

Not a remote one. Didn't use it on the Chisel, so reckon I'll be okay

For gravel I got my very knackered Wolverine.

Pity your on the other side of the planet, otherwise I'd have had the Chisel off of you.
Evo looks mint.

Yeh you’ll be grand. Unless you’ve got a rear lockout I don’t think they make sense on a full sus, and with a dropper you’ve got enough to think about already!

Ok. Looks like my choice parts shaved about 600g off. 12.2 without pedals or bottle cages in size XL. Was hoping for sub 12 but ultimately don't care. I did use quite a bit of sealant so it'll get lighter over time.
First impression are: It's gonna be a rocket.
It pedals much better than the Chisel on asphalt even though i had the shock and fork open. Fit wise everything is spot on and the ESI grips are amazingly comfy in comparison to the Ourys I had on before. Can't wait to take it out on the trails.

Love this thing! I dialled in the suspension a bit, swapped for some shorter cranks and put a Ground Control on the front as the conditions here are a bit slippery at the moment. It rocks.
