There's a pair of these lightly used for sale near me, my size £140, good price?

^ I bought those inc pads & wrist guards. Learned from a few videos that as a kid skating I was only using one technique really so lots to learn. I'd like to wheel to work eventually but that's a world away from where I'm at. Very rigid even though I feel as relaxed as I can be.
Practiced bubbles (reminded of pumping on bmx), & some edge turn not quite circles today, handy having a muga v.close to home.

Excellent stuff @rhb glad you got them, we were at Victoria Park yesterday, I don’t skate regularly enough, and at my age, it takes a while to get back on it. Every Sunday there is a decent crowd, very friendly and helpful too. From basic stuff to intricate dance moves. We have skaters from as far as Northampton visiting. How far is your commute?

There's a skatejam group up here but it looks small & irregular, meetups at Alex Park & Media City so I might head over to one sometime when skating more confidently. Went indoor at Ardwick today £5 for 2hrs, <10 people only 3 adults though. One of their staff taught my daughter to skate which was helpful. I practiced more bubbles & 1 footed bubbles as I need to develop that skill as a fundamental.
Commute would be 5 miles with shorter options to tram part way.

^ indoor was so much easier to skate on, hoping to go most Sundays, especially Autumn onwards

@rhb great stuff, skating outside takes time, I always have a mini panic stepping off the kerb or traversing surface changes.
If you can find an underground car park, they tend to have polished concrete surface which is amazing for practice. Sammy had us going up and down stairs too. I suppose it all builds up confidence

I'll have to see if I can use a carpark near work one evening to practice. A while away from stairs though I think!
Back at ardwick today, started trying that cornering thing where it is an outside push of outer foot, but inside pull of inner foot, like a step over of sorts. It probably has a proper tevhnique name.
Also had a proper arse heavy fall whilst doing some straight line balance messing, impact on butt & being skinny I felt it everywhere even rattling my brain. Glad I had wrist guards on as my left hand was second to hit floor hard too. It wasn't as bad as the thought of falling had been though, so a good thing to get out the way.
Didn't record much, just a short bubble clip again

There's usually some car park skating at Aurora(?) in Stockport, just off the TPT. Look for Edgely Rollers on Facebook. 'Manchester Inline & Quad Skating' too.
Will see if L has any other recommendations.

for crashes get yourself a pair of these and loose fitting shorts.
Ta, ideal! Assuming you have some, what size corresponds to your waist?

Thanks, Aurora is 25mins rode says Google so not impossible. Will look up the fb groups too, ta.

Ha, I’ve never worn bum savers, I reckon ice hockey players wear them though so worth doing some research

Understood will do. Hopefully I won't need them much but they'd defo have cushioned fall on Saturday

There's an indoor session nearby on Sunday evenings it turns out so I went last week. It was pretty chilled & nice tunes plus they keep numbers low to give space to skate.
It was anti-clockwise all session, as is Ardwick. I feel like Zoolander on wheels.

Didsbury/Burnage? Apparently you can ask to go clockwise, at least for a bit...
Assume you know Projekts have a quad/inline night on Monday with coaches if you want to get rad? Just keep an eye on their socials as some times it floods.

Yeah that one. As the noob I'm reluctant to ask & dirsupt...
Projekts session might be good for me in a few years if I am ever ready for ramps etc

Fb skate algorithm gave me this gem:
Zoolander session tonight, fun though a 0.08% better skater for having done it I reckon.

I think it is good that indoor sessions do change direction, not sure of the frequency of change or how it’s managed but it happened at Roller Nation on the occasions I was there.
Not been out recently on skates for a while, with holidays, other priorities and rain. I can’t wait to get back to Victoria Park though in August
I might get a pair of bum savers and attempt move intricate moves. I’ve got a pair of baggy workwear site shorts which should be perfect cover

Yes, I'd not turned right for about 5 weeks as I'm only skating that one session at present.
Rain here means no outdoor skating, and I'm still along way off any journey type of stuff.
Been recommended to go to Wigan, apparently a really nice indoor skate option so looking into options.

A bit of retail therapy this weekend, my supplied bearings are abec 1 which are the lowest of the low quality apparently. Just ordered rollerbones so hoping I'll notice the difference.
Bones Ceramic @ £190 are on the once I win the lottery list...

A superb week skating in parks in Spain with my daughter at skate camp ended abruptly for me on day 3 attempting to drop in on a half pipe. Gutted. Brilliant teaching and lovely atmosphere.
