How thick should a seat tube sleeve be? I have a 27.2mm ID steel seat tube with a 20mm crack, a 28.85mm OD / 25.40mm ID steel tube, and access to a machining workshop. Would I be risking impalement if I reduce the steel tube to 27.20mm OD and silver solder it into the seat-tube? Would it be worse to cut away the 20mm of cracked seat tube, turn the steel tube to 27.2 OD except a 20mm length left 28.85 OD, and try to solder that flush with the seat tube?

Where can I buy a replacement lid/cap for a Specialized ‘Purist’ type water bottle?
Can’t seem to find such a thing online…

Thanks, no racing, but mainly about town with one of the kids on the back, and occasionally when I drag her round some of the country roads and dirt roads, we’re in Spain so it’s mainly dry hard (dusty) roads etc when off-road

I’ve lost my rear dynamo light and am doing a night ride on Tuesday. Where am I likely to get one tomorrow? I live in West Norwood and might be riding to Islington tomorrow

If you intend to get one from condor or Balfes, bear in mind that their online retail system links directly to the distributors warehouse stock. Some retailers using that same system say on their websites that an item is ‘at the warehouse’ or something ambiguous to that effect, when it’s actually at their distributors warehouse, meaning more points of failure if it’s a v. important order.
Same for ‘available for in store collection’. Doesn’t always mean it’s actually in the store for you to rock up and collect it, it just means it’s collectable in store but it might be at (their?) warehouse. If it strikes you as misleading, you’re not alone.

TRP CX9. Either strip the ano, or embrace the sliver and black.
You've got a job and a family.
Cantis are for people with free time or their own mechanic.

I don’t think Condor do that bollocks. IME everything in stock on the website is in the shop.

It’s been a long while but I had the unpleasant experience of changing an entire days plans to go to Condor for a part, and it wasn’t in the shop. I don’t remember the exact wording on their website but it was ambiguous, if not misleading. Hopefully that’s no longer the case.

Is there a forum approved, easily available set of single speed road rim brake wheel set?
In black, ideally under £350.

single speed road
If you want ready made, probably https://www.dolan-bikes.com/alpina-single-speed-track-700c-wheelset/
I'd go Kinlin XR31 to Novatec but that obviously involves either building them yourself or waiting for somebody else to do it.

What are my options for Allen bolt skewers?
I have Halo on my muddy fox, but would be happy to splash out a bit more. -

You won't get any advantage over Halo by spending more

Any suggestions for cheap temporary car insurance? I literally only need it for 1 day and can't seem to find anything less than £50. My neighbour had her car window put in whilst she's away on holiday so I've offered to drop it at Autoglass for her.

Can your neighbour add you to their policy? When I did that with a friend it was £10 for the rest of the policy duration.

That would probably be ideal but I'm trying not to stress her out too much whilst she's on a much needed holiday. If I can just sort it out myself without spending loads of money that'd be ideal. It also needs sorting for first thing tomorrow and it's the middle of the night where she is so we might have missed the boat on that one!
Useful addition to fitness regime/sprint training, plus ecologically sound naturism cred.
Where's the downside?
