Probably a useful training exercise?

RAF flexing in public as a message to Putin?

Also in Wanstead, the 18 Eurofighters looked impressive.
The Battle of Britain flight is always amazing

Yeah they flew right over Somerset house. Was quite amusing as tourists looked up, missed it, thought it was a one-off and carried on, and got more and more annoyed each time

Doesn't a visiting President traditionally stay at the US Ambassador's gaff in The Regent's Park? I guess that they'll use them to get him in and out?
-

They bring his own special helicopter over for that...
I'm curious as to why the C-17 has to fanny about doing a five point turn on the runway, unless they're just showing off. Only alternatives I could think of are that the taxiways at Northolt either aren't wide enough or can't handle the weight.

Is that done with the thrust reversers on the engines, not seen a plane reverse like that without being pushed by a tow truck....

Yes.

Visited the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington. The biggest take from it was how tiny all the cockpits were and the complete lack of padding in the seats.
The Dakota is one set up for parachuting, no internal insulation and all ribs on show.Would recommend

Pretty cool day out if not quashed by queuing longer than it took to drive there. :o]
(Also the glorious British Summer)
Have some shitty pics.

Yes. First UK airshow visit since the war? It was at that point my 2 boys were tugging my coat to get 'souvenirs' and obvs somewhat tame compared to the bananas Rafale and F-18. Still.

No display of skill beats the B-52 pilot's accuracy in taking out the lights while crabbing down the runway. Think I counted eight in a row.
From about 4:30...

Oops. I counted nineteen in total.
They gave him a bumper one after the corronation one had to be scaled back.
Is a bit rich from an environmental perspective, but then you could equally lay that at every airshow. I imagine more people will have watched this and been somewhat impressed than most organised airshows. I've accidentally caught it from South Bank before with all the tourists loving it. 20 typhoons seems a bit OTT, but bet it looked good.
