Nearest equivalent was 13 years ago when a taxi driver decided to see how far I could fly. ( I have a lump in my left humerus from the break, and never saw a payout.)
Took at least 6 months before I stopped flinching whenever a car drove past, and probably a year before I was more 'normal'. That was a bigger trauma for sure, but I will expect a similar timescale.

As a London rider, was it ever pleasurable? I'm not sure it was.
Feel free to chat about the anxiety stuff here, as we understand your situation. Took me a month or two to get back on the bike after being rear ended. Was afraid of it happening again.

I was out the following day and as often as possible since. It was unbearable the first 10 days not just the shock/anxiety but the muscular aches were quite bad.
Aches have subsided enough that I can be confident I have some strength for at least errands.
Can see how many people would struggle to ride again after. I refuse to be beaten, but it certainly took a toll.

Good on you.
Supermoto next and ride like a Holigan.

I wouldn’t dream of such things and I certainly wouldn’t check the integrity of my frame, swingarm and shock by trying to get air from speedbumps. Those are incredibly reckless and stupid ideas.
No idea if/when payout, so making do until the money comes that will pay for replacement parts.

Picked up the Harley from having rusty headers replaced this evening, very hot so eschewed jacket and nice easy ride home along the carnage that is Wandsworth Road. I never usually go down there, but the mechanic is on it (Ace motors - very good people) it’s shit, Clapham is shit and Wandsworth is shit. Knocked off while standing still in traffic by rear end of a fire engine turning right swinging round and clouting me. I was stationary in the straight on lane , as was he in the right turn lane then he moved off and bang. Fucking bit of a shock. Passers by helped me pick up bike and then off after firefighters. Broken clutch lever, indicator lens and rip on seat. Bruised arm and hip on me. Quite annoying and annoyed with myself too. Probably going to fuck my insurance big style. Not happy. First proper off in about thirty years.
And to cap it all get home to find an expensive new shirt has shrunk despite me hand washing it in barely lukewarm water - fucking bastard thing. -

That's a hit and run. You should have called the emergency services (police for hit and run, who will investigate fire), they will certainly know exactly what vehicle it was.
By the way, call MCAMS asap. They'll help.

Caught the fire engine fairly quickly and they were good, offered to call an ambulance, full exchange of details, offer of a tea, etc. Being a bloody big fire engine they didn’t even notice any impact, first they knew of it was some pissed off motorcyclist shouting at them at the next set of lights.
Just all a pain and today was probably the first time in London that I’ve ever ridden without a jacket on -sod’s law.
Why do I have different log ins on my phone and iPad???
-
• #23435
Indeed. Big vehicle they’d have no idea, but they shouldn’t have clipped anything taking any manoeuvre. If it was a cyclist they’d be another black lfgss logo.
Sucks that it happened when it happened. This is wholly typical, like me getting rear-ended on the DR instead of the CBR, just because I fancied a change.

That's shit. Glad that you're OK which is the main thing.

How you feeling this morning?
-
• #23438
Not too bad, I can feel I’ve had a tap but relatively mobile, bruising starting to come up. Completed the police report online this morning and will contact the fire brigade on Monday a.m.
Ordered the replacement indicator lens and going to go and check the clutch lever design in a bit and get that ordered. It’s rideable with the broken lever but I want to get it sorted sooner rather than later.
How are you progressing? -

I've barely used my XT over the last 4 years, so I decided to give it fresh oil, some love and zebra stripes and I'm doing a short camping trip now.

Looks like a lot of fun!
I finally got to test ride the RD yesterday. A few heat cycles, then a gentle 20mins or so, then a few harder goes in 2nd and 3rd to seat the rings. It was unbelievably lean on the 190 jets I guessed at, much better on 210s but still lean. Pretty amazing the difference porting and pipes makes as the stock size is 120! Got to head down to Compton today to get some bigger sizes, hopefully 220 will do….

Henry Cole on his motorbike show gave a rave review to a big Zero electric adventure bike this evening. https://zeromotorcycles.com/en-gb/model/zero-dsrx He really enjoyed the motor. Which cheered me up, because I've been struggling to imagine electric EVs being fun when you open the throttle. The range is too short and the charging takes too long and the price is probably silly, but if we're all condemned to an EV future, maybe it won't be terrible?

I had a spin on a Zero FXE recently and it was silly fun! I've no doubt the fun of electric bikes is massive, if they can just get to a point of having 300km range and reasonably quick charge times I think everyone would be happy! Even as it stands the current range and charge times are pretty acceptable for a commuter!

Biggest long term problem with electric is weight. Heavy powerful bikes are becoming the norm when lightweight bikes are the real ideal. Electric trials are probably the sweet spot at the moment.

Maybe something Sodium ion batteries can address

got a pretty favourable review on daily rider recently too:

Saw a Mecatechno megabucks ridden by a local clubman through the stream and up the muddy banking like it was childs play.

I could sense that impact from beginning of description, nasty!
Can confirm hgv can hit various things and not hear, feel it or really even notice. Neighbours parked car (skoda supurb estate) got hooked by a rigid body truck and flung into a junction and dragged along a few other cars. Probably £100k of damage in 30 seconds and the guy only really stopped as a dog walker in the road they turned into jumped out and stopped them. Was about 8 cars scraped to death by the supurb bumper attachment. Whilst it's no fault and no injuries at all, means my postcode insurance will now be up for next millenia....
It's different but the same; After I got robbed badly, it took a long time to confront and deal with the anxiety, it still causes me some issues now. Feel for you. All i can say is step into the space that feels difficult, when your ready.
