  • How thick should a seat tube sleeve be? I have a 27.2mm ID steel seat tube with a 20mm crack, a 28.85mm OD / 25.40mm ID steel tube, and access to a machining workshop. Would I be risking impalement if I reduce the steel tube to 27.20mm OD and silver solder it into the seat-tube? Would it be worse to cut away the 20mm of cracked seat tube, turn the steel tube to 27.2 OD except a 20mm length left 28.85 OD, and try to solder that flush with the seat tube?
