Exactly, winter time id the time to work on cargo bikes with kids. Suns out funs out, only necessary maintenance to keep it running.

This really is a flashback to my short longtail.
Rode it home, took everything off.
Box is still in parts but no kids so I just use a plastic crate. And regarding bakfiets no bakfiets, your light mounting solution looks better than the one on the bakfiets I see here.
They have two lamps (good) mounted low on the sides where they get damaged (bad).
Also your lamp surround seems to be a clever robust step solution. -

Very neat, did you fabricate the box yourself? What's the material? -

phenolic ply
I couldn't find any of this sort of thing from the usual highstreet suppliers so I think you might have to order it in from somewhere online, who you can probably get to cut it up as well. The quick search I just did looks like they will cut and ship and they also do phenolic edge paint. It looks like it'll be proper playground-quality material but it ain't going to be cheap so it's worth shopping around.
I would go so far as to say modern plywood is really dreadful quality compared to the past though. I made my box from Wickes 9mm and 12mm ply and it looks good because I've finished it well but the plywood itself is soft and weak. I don't know where the nice stuff comes from.

Yeah the 1st gen and maybe 2nd gen so 2008 to 2011 its possible if you see a skinny seat tube, but TBH all of those broke well over a decade ago, they fixed it from 2011 IIRC and frames are best in the industry now. Bullitts don't brake anymore unless you crash into something solid.

Crashing into something solid to brake is an interesting solution ;-)
But yeah jokes aside that’s great, glad to hear they don’t have those issues anymore!

Thought I’d share this

It’ll be interesting to see where Laura goes with this and let’s be honest we’d all do the chariot, race car thing :D -

they have a branch in bromley

It’s 2mm aluminium, got it cut and folded then just tig’d down the corners.
It’s got an xlr socket in the side for the charger.
It’s got a 52v 20a battery inside.
There’s enough space for 2 of these boxes one in front of the other but so far just one battery has been fine for a days riding.

That's sick, especially the port for charging. Is that a bit of cloth for soaking condensation through colder days or insulation to keep as much of the cold out?
With my battery, the port will be topside hopefully. It's the triangular type. -

Todays ride. Guess how many kids I can fit in this thing?

Nice, what's the make? I used to ride something similar when I was a courier in Leeds. Non electric though, absolutely brutal up some of the hills. Managed to tip it over backwards on a steep one once with a particularly poorly packed paper delivery (packed by me obviously).

I’m not sure, might be custom? Yeah even a slight incline when this is fully loaded is torture in anything but the grannyest gear, luckily the motor doesn’t actually need resistance to work, so you just gently spin the pedals and admire the scenery while it does all the work

One of ours was a converted rickshaw, called a Maximus. This looks similarly agricultural! We had another dodgy "custom" trike which had electric assist, it's just that the electric assist didn't kick in until you already had a bit of momentum. Extremely helpful.

Why the hole in the middle of the windshield?
-
• #11746
Not a hole, its a rigid section for better visibility.
-
• #11747
Ha, same here but luckily it has a button which give me it a bit of a push until you’re up to speed

I'm back taking the kids to nursery full time on the bullitt after fucking up my back, I've got a much more upright riding style now but as I've got insanely long legs compared to my torso I feel I need the bars up and back a touch as I feel I'm reaching forward a bit more than I'd like.
So question is, has anyone used an adjustable stem before and can anyone recommend one? Thinking that would be the solution.
Have an Omnium cargo in M/L in red MK1 never built frame forks and rack etc any interested parties drop me a message.
